🇬🇧 Deutschland's national anthem is arguably the best national anthem. It seems to me that the author of the anthem's lyric, August Heinrich Hoffmann, who wrote it in 1841 during the era of possible German unification to form a union Empire (which eventually being realised about three decades later at around 1870s), try to reflect the long rich invaluable history of the land from the 10th century i.e. from the Holy Roman Empire, where (1) the strong roots and traditions become the foundation and inspiration for the people to carry out noble deeds throughout their lives, (2) the subsequent responsibility to safeguard and unite the German nations, and (3) the future hope for striving to have a prosperous, dignified, and honourable nation. In addition, the melody was composed by Joseph Haydn, the mentor and teacher of both Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Ludwig van Beethoven. Haydn usually began the manuscript of each composition with “In nomine Domini” (in the name of the Lord) and ended it with “Laus Deo” (Praise be to God).
