Hey! I just stumbled upon your channel. It seems like a pretty chill environment here, with videos I'd like to watch. You seem like an interesting person who enjoys being involved in music. You also seem like someone I can learn a lot of different facts from. What else can I say, I've really warmed up to this channel. Whatever you are doing, keep doing it bud!

Rushed out to buy Quartet as soon as it was released, and I still love it, as well as all Ultravox's albums (except perhap Uvox!). You're either tuned in to Ultravox or you aren't: If you're not, my sympathies.

That is a good album. I picked up a copy while in Spain. Though it comes with an extra disk of demos. I think it’s a 50th anniversary pressing from 2016. Overall I find it to be a solid record I have another one of their songs called “Shuckin’ And Jiving” on a comp.

25th-ish anniversary? It's far and away my favorite AIR record; I have three others from them, but Moon Safari is the one I always come back to. (wrote my comment with your earlier, vaguer, some-kind-of-anniversary comment, but have now heard you specify 25th)

Yep, 25 years (in 2023). This is a top-notch album (although, musical contrarian that I am, it is not my absolute #1 by them). The concert was excellent.

Good vid. Thick as a Brick and Songs from the Wood are my top two, absolute classic desert island discs. After that, Heavy Horses, Minstrel and Aqualung round out my top five, albums I absolutely have to own. After that I like various stuff here and there but no albums I can't live without. The run of albums after Heavy Horses especially, I've heard those albums a half-dozen times and I'm hard-pressed to recall how any of the songs go, they just seem so uninspired compared to my top five.

I'm sorry but Israel is not just a banal pop song. 1. Eden Golan is not an innocent singer who has nothing to do with politics. She is 20 and is an intelligent and strong woman. I hate it, that people think young pretty women are kind of naive. 2. The song was originally called October Rain. And she clearly had the political message. She said so in many interviews. Even if she had to change the title and some lyrics, the song is war propaganda. As soon as Eden Golan was back she changed it back. She fully supports Isreal politics against Palestine and looks forward to join the army. With this song she wants to morally support the soldiers to fight and make heroes out of them. ESC Gabe explains it in a video and all medias talked about it for weeks. The protesters were not mean antisemitic people who booed this poor and innocent young girl. I think, Eurovision is and should be political. It's not possible not to be. It always was. But it has to stop to pretend not to be and make clear regulations. It's not ok that one side has the right and the other does not.
@murdockreviews
@murdockreviews 2 ай бұрын
I appreciate your comment and background story. The lyrics had to be changed for the official performance, what was left was musically trite. The Israel/Palestine war is a different thing that absolutely needs critical voices from all sides. But the ESC is not the platform for serious political debate imo.

Really good assessment on this BB doc. I felt the documentary felt pretty hollow overall. They didn't really talk about any album post Pet Sounds or even show any album artwork at all! Even if the intention was to introduce to new fans, it just felt rushed and empty. Strange choices as well. It really should've been a 3-4 part documentary. The most disappointing part is this will most likely be the last documentary we get.

Look at me, learning and shit. I know The Monks as the band from the 1979 hit “Nice Legs (Shame About Her Face)” from 1979. A basement-dwelling bit of pop songwriting that I nonetheless have a great fondness for-it almost made my list of my 200 favorite singles, a list I’ve been refining for a couple of years now in anticipation of a video series. Totally different Monks, though, formed by two ex-members of The Strawbs.
