She should have won the short program, which would have made her Olympic champion. This was the best program on this night. She skates with incredible speed, top notch skating skills, great spins, difficult footwork. This was the total package.

Kwan had no chance of winning against Tara this night. The judges crowned circular step sequences, two-way step combinations, a triple loop triple loop combination rarely performed in artistic programs, two triple jumps at the end of the program. Well this energy, that of a will-o’-the-wisp, like a gold medal. Kwan fanatics who still don't admit this 25 years after Nagano should consult a psychiatrist

I feel a lot of the jumps were underotated and little height and just uninteresting. And lack of fluency and skating speed. A program designed to be boring and consistent and play to her strengths and hope that more technically capable skaters screwed up so she could win. For me it’s not a world champion winning skate. She got lucky.
