Glad to hear it! I just finished writing a three-movement quartet called 'Level Up!' all influenced by video game music. The full piece will be out at the end of the year, but I'm releasing one of the movements over the summer!

I played this piece a few months ago in an honors band in Alpena and I just want to say it was the most fun I've ever had in band. This piece is very beautiful, keep up the good work!

For anyone coming here 5 years later, here's the 12 time signatures that appear in this ONE piece: -2/4 -3/4 -4/4 -5/4 -6/4 -7/4 -5/8 -6/8 -7/8 -12/8 -2/2 -3/2 -4/2 Literally the most key signatures I've personally seen lol

When I was writing this piece I first just thought of it as a slow ballad but the trio wanted something a little more difficult, so I added those rhythmic sixteenths to spice it up a bit!

It's a fun instrumentation to write for! I actually have a friend who commissioned a handful of new accessible reed quintet pieces for his dissertation, so hopefully you'll be seeing a new piece from me soon!

Wish I was young enough to play it.. Haven't played in years, but yea, if I ever practice enough, it seems like a really good solo to ease into (the accompaniment not withstanding =p) (You might say it's for tenors as well? idk, I don't remember seeing that many notes I'd need 2nd trigger for. (I really don't know how that classification works).

I'm glad you enjoy it! I think it has it's fair share of difficulties, especially in the first movement, but hopefully it's pretty approachable. I think lower trombone parts can come down to preference - The 5th part in this could be played on bass but it's perfectly doable on tenor.
