This is depressing. It also creates the impression that many of these people have no other way to make a living. Do you think this is true?

I’m a student who was hoping to visit Istanbul. I had everything budgeted, I could barely afford it. Then I discovered these entrance fees and feel completely crushed.
@BeryIstanbulTips15 сағат бұрын
Hi there! Don’t let the prices scare you, there are still PLENTY of free things to do in the city, just the main attractions coat a leg and an arm but trust me, there are so many neighborhoods that have so much to offer. Just check out our other videos on my channel, there I have covered so many places.

One thing I will say is, Try not to look like a tourist. I walked though Istanbul all though the Bazaars and up Gelata tower etc, I bought a gift in the Bazaar and it went into a gift bag that made me as a tourist 😂 All the way home to the hotel I was constantly harassed.

I spent about 1200-1300 lira on a 7 night holidays with family in 2016. They increased the prices 10 times now.

Wow…..Thank you so much for this….even living here in Singapore (equal to Zurich as the most expensive city on the planet)….these prices are crazy. But I think what shocked me is that local people have to pay the same price as a tourist to HS. That’s very sad.

I'm a foreigner living in Turkey for more than a year a half at this point. The economic struggle of this country has only gone up 10 fold and will continue to get worse. Prices of everything increase every week. For those coming to Turkey to visit, I strongly urge you to always ask about prices before you buy anything, as many times they won't bother having them written. Restaurants especially in/near touristic areas can absolutely price gouge you and in some cases add a "10% foreigner's tax" on your food bill. Look at menus with prices written. If it's not easy for tourists anymore, imagine how hard it has been on the locals.

Istanbul is very beautiful and I would visit any time. With that being said I would say the cheap stuff is shoping and most restaurants and food in general. Transportation is cheap and I hope it stays like that. Anything that has cultural significance is very very expensive. Hagia Sofia is 25 euros now, Topkapi palace is 45, Maiden island is 30, Galata tower is 30, Cisterns are 18 etc. Most museums are 15 and up. Pretty sad about that side of Istanbul. I wish it was more affordable. I'm still coming back but not for that stuff. Ferry is my favorite thing in Istanbul.

these days, you must pay alot! everything for foreigners have tripled, entrance ticket for example for the underground water reservoir is 30$ and children above 6 years old pays the same price as adult, that is pretty absurd for a 15 minutes sightseeing place

Nice videos as always bery. Just wanted to ask yiu about the buggy service you used. How we can i book the buggy service? Any website i can use to find about the buggy service ?
@BeryIstanbulTips15 сағат бұрын
Good question! I was already walking towards the VIP lounge when the buggy was coming, the driver saw I was holding a Turkish Airlines ticket in my hand so he asked me if I was going to the lounge to which I said yes, so he said the buggy was also included and he drove me there, tbh I didn’t know it was also included I just happened to see it when I was on my way. But you can ask at the check-in desk, surely they’ll know where to book them.
@Moozie115 сағат бұрын
Thank you for you reply. I will definitely check that out directly with turkish airlines. Keep doing a great job

trust me yoghurt and baklava are not sensitive topics at all, they are just different in Greece and different in Turkey :) I love greek people in london, we celebrate our differences even if we use the same word but make it differently. Some nationalists take things differently tho, be careful about those people, clearest sign is people doing wolf hand shapes, avoid them at all costs

The food was great, and the professionalism of the crew was exemplary. However, the 787s they fly from Chicago to Istanbul have horrible seat space....seats capable of reclining way too far back. I had a hard time eating my meal due to the seat in front of me. Their shorter flight 737s have pretty good space.

Hi Bery, Is it good to visit Turkey in the second half of July?
@BeryIstanbulTips5 күн бұрын
Just keep in mind that from July-beginning September the weather is the hottest 🔥, is high season (higher prices in accommodation) and all places might be more crowded than any other season since is schools are in summer holidays too and local tourism is quite active.
