Hi John, on a different issue, I notice you wear the Rev-It bike jacket and I would like to know what you think of it? I tried one on recently and it seemed to fit very well but am curious to know how it performs in the elements, like Sun, Rain and Cold? I guess you could say it's my goal to purchase the right riding Jacket to cover all conditions. Thanks, Mike. 🙂

Thank you, Wilma. It has felt harder this time. I guess it’s the double whammy of experiencing my own loss and also seeing my mother’s sadness. This past Sunday would have been their 70th anniversary. Many, many blessings…trying to focus there.

Loctite and a pipe wrench or adjustable jaw wrench to hold the top. When you get home you can drill a hole through the bolt below the nut and put a cotter pin in it or goober up the threads or give it a tack weld. Plus you didn’t tighten that near tight enough… you need a 3’ long pipe on that wrench…

My wife and I just completed a 10500 mile trip on our Honda goldwing. We did the planning you talked about, with one exception. We have always planned the trip to the nth degree. This time we had a vague trip plan, but no reservations in hotels. This allowed us to take side roads and change destinations each day as opportunities presented themselves. It worked really well and we plan to do it this way again.

Spyder ride sure beats cutting the grass. Wish we had a ferry ride close by. Always great to get on the water. What’s with the mid 70’s. We passed thru the Badlands National Park after lunch at Wall Drugs and it was a toasty 107. So many bikes heading to Sturgis. Glad you guys got out. Won’t be long till the meet up. God Bless ,Ray & Linda on our way home. Hoping Debbie stays west.

interesting perspective. I just turned 55 and keep trying to save up in our 401k because we didnt start early..The wife has expressed interest in a spyder recently. Ive ridden motorcycles since 1995. She got her motorcycle license and developed medical issues before she could even ride her motorcycle. Now she is talking about these. Thinking maybe quality of life for the next 10 years or so may be a better investment in something like this. The big negative of these is the amount of garage space they take up, and trailering. Do you find it hard to find parking at rallies?

Enjoyed a ride with some of my CMA chapter members via back roads to through Shenandoah National Park and Skyline Drive to Luray and Front Royal to Linden to eat at the Apple House. We usually go to the Outer Banks every two years and 168 is always crowded heading north or south. We usually stay in Corolla. Haven't taken the Knotts Island Ferry yet but will have to ride the Spyder to enjoy that adventure.

Miriam, sorry to hear of your father's passing. When I was struggling with the same situation, a friend told me to only remember the good times. I've spread the same quote many times. Enjoy the sunny days, glad you could remind John that there was enough time to mow the grass. My yard takes a solid 2 hours- no trimming.!! Putting off until tomorrow is my famous line. Of course living alone I get only positive feedback. 👍👍

What a wonderful ride! The weather here has been too hot to enjoy a ride; 90's with humidity into the 100's and the thunderstorms that come with it. Next week looks better as we are preparing for a couple of September trips (I rewatched your packing videos for great tips) Cheers to the Mission Commander and her Pilot. Now, I gotta mow the lawn 😂

Hi John & Miriam. We have finally achieved our goal of taking the Spyder to Glacier National Park and riding the Going to the Sun Road. Amazing adventure. Spent 5 days in and around the park. Interesting video John. I live with a planner and I am more of a, to use a term you might be familiar with, "flying by the seat of my pants" type of traveler. Our approaches maybe very different but we each benefit from the others knowledge and enthusiasm. We've had so many fun adventures and always looking for the next one! You guys definitely inspire us to keep reaching new adventures! Look forward to seeing you both again soon.

Really super glad this formula and goal planning works for you both in your trips! 💜🤗 We did a lot more planning for our Alaska trip than any other trip but that was because of all the logistics involved and lack of lodging and knowing where we could stop for gas etc. However on trips in the lower 48 we tend to roll and go more with the flow. That works for us. We accomplish our goal and destination but sometimes it's a lot of fun getting there in a different way than what we had envisioned. But that's just us. 💜🤗

Having a Spyder has opened me to so many new possibilities for traveling. I've discovered so many places right here in my home province and just the two neighboring states of VT and NY! I also discovered that I can ride long distances, when planned properly. Two trips coming up soon where I will definitely apply the principles you outlined here. Cheers John!
