i thought this was such a logic repair so i ordered a set of collars as soon as i saw your video only to find out when i opened up my machine that top caps on for the springs in my washer are different, there's no lip to on the caps for the collars to clamp down on so now i guess i'm going to have to figure some other way to dampen the rods, maybe i'll try the safety pin hack temporally.....

I actually have a video on those. I was using the collars under the cap. Slip a piece of rubber on the rod. Now tighten the collar on the rubber. Lower the cap. You will have a slight gap, but it won’t hurt anything

@@appliancerepairshorts i thought about that the p;roblem is under the cap it won't keep the cap from going up and above tghe cap once it goes up it won't be pulled back down because it's not attached to the cap, i'm thinking about pounding the end of the rods round again so i can slide the caps and spring off them heating the plastic so i can compress it to make the hole small again then put it all back together flattening out the end again, just wished i could think of something quicker and easier for a temporary solution, thanks for the suggestion though....

If the brakes are stuck, the washer will not spin. The clutch would basically burn out. If your washer stops properly when it is done spinning, your brakes are fine. If your basket is not spinning and you can hear making noise like something is moving. If you look and see something shiny, it is the clutch

Yep great video. I just repaired a Simpson eziset. I used a friction/dampner grease on the wire shaft and other bits and it seems to working well so far. ( got this idea from a comments section on a repair video somewhere.) It's the same stuff they use in video game controls. Amazing sticky stuff . It was from NYE lubricants Inc , distributed by VKB- SIM Australia pty ltd. ( yes I'm in OZ ) . It was a synthetic hydrocarbon grease called Nyogel 767A. I have nothing to do with company. and there are probably other suppliers in the U.S. and other places. It came as a small jar in the mail with 5 grams in it. Enough for 4 suspension rods and cost $20-$30 with mail cost. Thanks hope this adds to all the great knowledge.

@appliancerepairshorts
@appliancerepairshorts 10 күн бұрын
So the tapping fixes the problem because the motor is stuck, and it is trying to rotate. The tap releases the pressure or debris. Normally it doesn’t come back. Also not using your dishwasher often can cause the motor to seize up. Keep your dishwasher clean and clean before putting them in.

THE TRUTH: Everyone is focused on making the capsule grip the rod tighter to reduce the shaking, This can help, but it is not the solution. The reason these rods work to stop the shaking is that there is a special grease that has been applied to the rod where the capsule moves. This grease has the viscosity of honey. It is thick and it is sticky. The capsule must move through this grease, and when it does, its motion is considerably slowed. This is what prevents the shaking from happening and dampens the oscillations that would otherwise occur. The bottom line is that if the capsule is in good shape, or can be repaired even with a solid substance or solid replacement, applying the grease to the rod in the area it moves through is the long term fix. If replacing the rods, also apply this grease if it is not already present on the new rods. This grease is synthetic damping grease lubricant. It isn't cheap, but you don't need much for 4 rods. I found it sold on Amazon for about $10. You get 2 10 gram tubes. If you are doing lots of repairs, you can buy a 50 gram tube for $26.
@appliancerepairshorts
@appliancerepairshorts 9 күн бұрын
You are partially correct, I know that super tacky grease. It does work, but it doesn’t work on its own. The damper on the inside is a foam type material, that has some sort of grease, but Samsung has the tacky grease. I’m using something in combination on the Samsung suspension rods. I have not updated it yet. Thanks for your input
@rus1ifly
@rus1ifly 9 күн бұрын
@@appliancerepairshorts You are also partially correct. The foam piece inside the capsule must slide on the rod correctly as the capsule moves through the dampening grease. If that foam has deteriorated too much the dampening effect of the sticky grease can't work by itself. With worn suspension rods, the combination of your fix plus added grease will work for all but really worn out suspension rods. I have a Samsung washer and can confirm they use very sticky grease. The "shotgun" repair method may be the best and most practical way to go, I.e. replace the suspension rods with aftermarket rods from Amazon costing $40 or so for 4 of them, and coat them with the sticky grease when installing them?
