I'm confused. Why not do the square root of 392 for the first problem, which is 19.7? And the same for the 3rd problem. The square root of 48 is 6.9.

I like the old school ink and paper and the detailed explanation. I think you picked an example that had a bit too much arithmetic which isn't necessarily the purpose of the video, i.e. subtracting sixteenths, ending on an odd fraction etc. Would be easier to follow with a simpler example.

your last two examples can be answered in a shorter way using the 45-45-90 and 30-60-90 degree triangle theorem.

After substitution you will get two equations with two unknowns and then you may use elimination to solve this.
