Thing that really bugs me, is how thoroughly people of my ancestry have embraced the god(s) of their oppressors, slavers, rapers and murderers. They bamboozle you with "god works in mysterious ways, his wonders to perform" anytime you start to look closely at what they really are, and you buy that garbage? Is it a wonder then, that they have no respect for you?

That’s not a WOW…. “I’m lonely” isn’t something Adam ever said. Either some preacher in his past told him that’s what Adam said or he misread it for himself. God saw that Adam was alone. It wasn’t even on Adam’s radar.

The thing to understand about The Bible is that one has to have enough sense to distinguish between metaphors and parables and what is to be taken as literal fact. The message behind some of the stories and life lessons are what is to be taken as fact. But so many people are taught a literal interpretation, and most people know only what they are told.

@@csharpbnatural If you study the life and teachings of people such as Denmark Vesey, Mariah W. Stewart, Nat Turner, David Walker, Bishop Henry McNeal Turner, and even (to an extent) Marcus Garvey, these men and women used The Bible as a tool of liberation and a source of inspiration for Slave Rebellions as well as freedom movements afterwards. I said at the end of my post that "most people know only what they are told." Many people were taught a version of The Bible that encouraged docility during and after slavery. The people I just mentioned saw past that, read for themselves, and drew the messages of liberation (Exodus 21:16, Revelation 13:10, etc) that were not taught to the average person.

I think it's funny how people perceive God through a book or a religion. Adam is short for admirable. Eve is short for evil. She committed the original sin. God is in your heart, not your mind. You'll find God when you open your heart to God. You'll never find the truth of yourself from reading a book. You will find your true self when you listen to God and do as God asks.
