I think cafeteria area is not the best choice for food😅 and if you are using public transportation, the bus comes every hour and parking situation is a bit rough. Hopefully, you would survive!👍

Hi there, Irvine is generally pretty safe! Camino Del Sol is a smaller community and is closer to campus/other housing than Vista Del Campo and Vista Del Campo Norte, so there is more traffic and events happening regularly. Vista Del Campo is on the outskirts of campus so there is minimal traffic/activity happening in that area but some of my friends who lived in that area enjoyed it. What was sometimes challenging was how far it was from campus.

Hi, this is Kevin :) I'd say there isn't necessarily a "typical" roadmap to get a devops role, it is a fairly new role with the advent of the cloud. As a result, UCI has very few classes related to devops. If you want to start learning skills and getting credentials for a devops role, I'd highly recommend learning AWS and Kubernetes - every company does something different for their infrastructure, but many use those two things. AWS has a Solutions Architect certification, studying material covering topics needed to get that certification will give a basic understanding of AWS. For Kubernetes, I'd look for some tutorials on YT. That's somewhere to start!

One pointer is the people subleasing their rooms for summer, for the ACC apartments, since the lease is 12 months long and not everyone is staying for the summer. Another pointer would be summer housing at the various on-campus housing communities, including dorms, though I'm not sure on the specifics

In my personal opinion, I think Puerta is nice because it is fully furnished, but it locks you in. The bus is close right outside the middle of Puerta. I liked UTC, because it was flexible and cheaper if you got 5 people. Some of the apartments are also closer to campus and all the other food places. So it's up to you!

Hi Teri! Welcome to UCI! Unfortunately, the housing at Puerta del Sol does not have it's own parking. You will only be able to park at the ARC. It is a 5 min walk from Puerta del Sol. Hopefully that answers your question. If you have any other questions let us know!

hi angie, first off congratulations on getting into UCI! it's a great school and i think you're going to love it here. now to address your question, if you know the specific major that you want to declare by the time of your SPOP (freshmen orientation that occurs in the summer) you can actually switch your major during the orientation. if you are unable to switch at the time of your SPOP, i would then recommend that you actually stay at a psych major because you will have more options for class choices without the class restrictions that undeclared majors often face! i hope that all made sense! please feel free to ask further questions and i'll be happy to answer them~
