so pissed I didn't go to this, especially with the free members' tickets! My love affair with TIFF started with a Ben Barnes movie (and my own amusement at all the Narnia fangirls at the time who were there to see him in a very non-Narnia movie) in 2009 so I totally would have gone as a funny full-circle sort of thing but he wasn't announced to be there until the day of :( very cool of Ian McKellen to be there virtually too!

the whole point of the joke went right over their heads lol the punchline is that an entire office staff is fiercely debating over a tabloid topic, and another punchline is how they're analyzing a celebrity's face in the same way that normal office employees would analyze something actually related to their job, and a third punchline would be that both men and women have been trained to determine "hot or not" in female celebrities. It's not meant to be a jab at hilary swank at all. They could just as easily debated another irrelevant tabloid topic like "are bluetooth headsets cool or stupid?" People who say the joke was sexist or offensive are just misunderstood

Took me, what, ten years to see this but it is funny as hell! Much more than I was expecting - I had real tears at some parts especially in the tent 🤣 It’s also got heart as well though which makes it different from the likes of The Hangover. Andrew Scott brought me to this film but honestly the whole cast are just amazing - every character has their moments and it’s just brilliant 🤩 👏
