The Victorian was nasty ugh. And then you get the disgusting, redneck Driftwood Apartments behind The Dawn. Beautiful beaches? Um you are joking right? Sorry but Galveston is nasty and I’m so glad I moved away from that hell island yuck🤮

My family & I (husband & 7 kids) went to Stewart beach yesterday. It was our first time and we had a blast. We chose Stewart over babes because one of our neighbors whose well traveled said he loves Stewart. We enjoyed and can’t wait to return. The drive was a little over a hour our home.

If you move there, be prepared for the very high crime rate, illegals everywhere, you MUST speak Spanish and possibly every other language, and be forced to eat Mexican food. Does not count the roasting heat in the summer nor the storms.

I'm not sure why this video was recommended to me (already live in the Houston area after relocating from Dallas), but this channel gives some candid and practical advice. If you're looking for advice on real estate down here, you really want a realtor like this. In such a huge metro area, there are pros and cons to various suburbs and the inner core. If your prospective realtor is new to town themselves or if you're watching channels not from here that cite common statistics, find a new realtor. You really can pay as much tax on a million dollar home where I live as you would pay on a home that's 40 percent cheaper in another area. The tolls here in the greater Houston really are high. Traffic patterns are critical to understand and the schools vary widely in quality. It's still a good place to live, but you want to know what you're signing up for. Get informed before you make your purchase decision. And welcome to Texas.

Ummmm, it ultimately costs the buyer money to work with a real estate agent. The seller raises the price of the home to account for the 6% commission split between the buyer agent and seller agent. However, the new NAR lawsuit outcome will change the commission model, forcing buyers to sign a contract that guarantees the buyers will pay for their buying agent if the home doesn't have a buyers agent commission.

@@ShariLovesGalvestonBay We have a few years left, I have about 15 to go and my wife a little bit more. I'm a cop and my wife is a teacher, so we're saving our pennies until then for that goal! Our plan is to sell our house in Houston and use that tp buy in Galveston, or at least place a sizeable down payment, then live off savings and pension.

Warning: Don't move to Texas City. It's becoming trashier by the day. We just sold our house and moved away. Why? Take a drive down there and see for yourself. If you buy in Texas City, understand that your property value will be under constant assault because they allow people to keep junk in their front yards. They allow people to park their vehicles and trailers on the grass in their front yards. (Many residents did the lawful thing and poured a concrete addition to their driveway, thus expanding their parking capacity to avoid parking on the lawn. They're FURIOUS that the city is allowing junked up yards.) They don't enforce noise ordinances. They don't enforce fireworks laws. Dogs and cats are terrified for several days around July 4 and New Years Day. Too many city employees have an adversarial attitude toward residents. It was a great place to grow up, but it's gone downhill in recent years. And don't get me started on crime. TC is no longer safe. It's so hard to watch that dear city decline before our eyes.

Galveston politics is focused on tourism. The town belongs to the tourist in the summertime. I don't care for the Bike Rally or Mardi Gras. The property taxes are ridiculous. It's much better to live near Galveston than on the island itself.
