For excellent taste of CB on live date: See “Charles Brown - A Life In The Blues” covers full range of Brown material. For this listener’s opinion, NONE in Show Business is capable of the resume of Charles: composer, virtuoso, vocalist supreme, and deserving of title: “The King Of The Blues” from greasy joints to uptown clubs. Thanks loads for this rare treat. Many of his versions are the defining iteration of some standards. His “Cottage For Sale” is reference for others.

Brilliant video of Duncan, it certainly brings back memories. I was a music student of Duncan's way back in 1973. He was a lecturer at Kiderminster College of FE at the time. He would often come into the lesson in the winter with his driving gloves still on and rattle off a Bach Invention - with his gloves still on! He also used to astonish us with his ability to read any clef at sight and transpose sheet music on the the fly. I have very fond memories of him. Yes, Duncan was a prodigious talent and a very unasuming, understated person with a wide ranging eclectic knowledge and a great sense of humour. Indeed, he made everyone in his company feel relaxed and his lessons were always exiting and informative. It's a pity his talent was not widely recocnised.

He was almost entirely a NY player, not Los Angeles - including the Drifters and the Coasters. And, aside from saying here that he didn't record under his own name, here he is recorded under his own name: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/a9iDfMR_z9PdoGw.html

Legend and unappreciated in our time. Saw him live towards the end of his life and spoke to him briefly. Very quite man, with an amazing knowledge for music. He knew my father well, who spoke very highly of Duncan. The world always misses chaps like this from both a talent and personality perspective. Thanks Duncan.

I saw this memorable tour in Bristol, probably at the university. I think Dr Ross opened, followed by Eddie Taylor and John Wrencher. Cousin Joe came last and his first song started, I think, with the immortal line ; "I've got trouble with my woman and I've got trouble with my wife !" A very energetic performer.
