I have been enjoying the music of Cold Chisel since a friend introduced me to their fabulous Swingshift album in 1981. But this performance of Ian Moss is even way, way, way better than anything I can probably remember in live music recordings. So intense, soulful, virtuoso, well sounding... I am completely flashed! The piano is played beautifully, too. But Ian, your singing and playing is beyond comparison.

In any other band, Ian Moss would have been the undisputed lead singer - but Cold Chisel had Jimmy Barnes too… This performance is a true masterpiece!

He has more talent in his little finger than Barnsie has in his whole body. Genius guitarist and a fantastic voice, he was always overshadowed by the screaming, toneless Barnes. On the few occasions he was let loose he always delivered, such as here. Amazing version, thanks for posting.

I kinda know this guy but who can know an artist really? I lived in Australia for 8+ years and he was by far the most inspired musician/vocalist I heard in that time. Just a knockout.

Yeah, Mossie and Don were the business in that outfit but as much as I hated Jimmy Barnes tripe that he served up in the late 80's, early 90's, I could never take away from him as an entertainer. Caught up with him on a couple of DOTG venues and he brings the house down. Thats the talent that Cold Chisel had, thats why we were so lucky to have them.

I was lucky enough to have seen them playing this song in a Perth pub in 1976. At the time I was playing guitar in a pretty ordinary band playing around Perth but when I saw Ian Moss and Don Walker playing this arrangement I was mightily impressed and realised that maybe I should be looking to find myself another career! But I have never forgotten what an outstanding performance this was. It is great to see this again and realise that even after 47 years it still stands up as a superb piece of performance and musicianship.
