In a busy office environment, all we really need is the instant messaging, because we're already slammed with emails from our computers, texts on our smart phones, and phone calls. And live humans dropping by unexpectedly. :)

This is confusing. The first words of this video say it's the 2nd tutorial; but the title on this page is "Slack Tutorial 1: Slack Basics"

It doesn't say where to go to find this Ascend form. And are we supposed to complete it if we were automatically logged into Slack?

Are you still actively creating these videos? I loved this practical video (most of the others I saw were too quirky, sales-y, or start from admin sign-ups rather than user-perspective use. I would really like to see your next few videos, too, but I don't see any.

So, Slack is a text messaging app that's 10% more functional than WhatsApp Web, but 10x as tedious to implement (you're competing with sanning a QR code)... and groups are called channels now

Not "completely private". All messages/comments/dms are seen by the owner of the account. Even if the owner was not in the conversation. Even if it was deleted. This is closer to company property at a place of employment. Easy to track and collaborate for work and all can be viewed/logged.

I joined a slack group. One of the channels for newcomers has a few pinned items. I click on the pin and it shows the items on the right side of my screen. They're blocks of text someone had written, but I can't see the full post as it is displayed on the right side of my screen. I click on them but they don't expand. How can I see the full text without scrolling all the way back to when they were originally posted?

I also like to use the Moodbit app , that gives you a report of how your team is feeling, since then we could start taking some other strategies at my work so the employees would feel happier and be more productive

Slack has really come in handy for volunteers doing disaster relief. Check out 'Crowd Rescue'. They are volunteers working remotely to data mine the social media for signals coming out of disaster areas (such as Puerto Rico right after Hurricane Maria). Quite honestly, they are doing a better job of it than FEMA (imho)! That's because they're volunteers working for the good of the community, instead of millionaire campaign donor-appointees looking to fatten their wallets. Crowd Rescue uses Slack as their primary tool to organize & train volunteers and then to collate the data that saves lives.
