And thanks for your kind reply too :) I guess I just think sometimes it's important to admit (to oneself) what may be considered as bad or even ugly thoughts, cuz they're real too. And only after that could change happen. Have a good day~

My name is Federico (Fred), help in translating please.
@Jin_ChineseTeacher2 ай бұрын
I googled this name and it says it embodies a kind and gentle leader, a "peaceful ruler", so (if) based on that, I would suggest 费德恩 (fèi dé ēn). “Fed” soundly translated to Chinese would be 费德, and 费 happens to be a Chinese surname (What a coincidence!); 德 indicates good qualities of a person in general, and 恩 means grace, generosity. BTW, speaking of gentle leader, off the top of my head, I thought of 周恩来, the first premier of China who is also well known for spectacular talent and a kind heart, so sharing the same character 恩 in name would also be a way to embody "peaceful ruler" meaning (I guess?) hhh😄 Hope you like it~

Thanks for the comment! And hope it can help with your Chinese learning😀(though I have to make a little correction: it's 自我介绍, not 我自介绍.)
heyaa jin! Im linguistic student in college and as a beginner chinese learner I really use your videos I glad I find you 😅 our chinese instructer tasked us to get a chinese name and I actually already have 白 雪恒 but Im not sure if its a proper name or not Im a male and pretty confused with chinese gendery names 😅 my name is zemheri which means death of winter(or very severe harsh winter) I didnt want it to identical with my name's sound phonetically. adn IM not sure if 白 雪恒 sounds close to native names or not. could you have any other recomandation for my name or any change? ✨✨
@Jin_ChineseTeacher3 ай бұрын
Thanks for the comment! So I assume you chose 白 as your surname, and 雪恒 as your personal name? In that case, I would suggest you change 雪 to another character for a male's name, because with 雪(snow) being white and soft, it's usually an image for female in Chinese language. You can use 冬(winter) directly instead, it's more unisex. And together the combination 冬恒 can either stand for 永恒的冬天(endless winter) or 在寒冷的冬天也很有恒心毅力 (even though in cold winter still being perseverant and strong). Because Chinese names are usually two irrelevant characters made up together (instead of using a fixed word), so what it means really depends on how you interprets it. Hope it can help😊

hiii!! my name is merve. i am a female, capricorn born on 2004 and that year the snow was the heaviest. my original name's meaning is not interesting. so i am trying to find a name that represents my characteristics. or any name that sounds natural and elegant. it's a hard decision i need help 🥲🥲
@Jin_ChineseTeacher3 ай бұрын
Thanks for the comment! Well, from the fact that you mentioned capricorn and the heavy snow, I took a guess that you're a committed, determined and scrappy person (at least that's what google and my capricorn friends told me about this zodiac sign😅; also, there are many Chinese poems about how some plants like winter sweet and pine would become stronger and more beautiful only after suriving a heavy snow). So those words translated into Chinese could be 有恒心,有毅力,坚韧不拔etc., and there's a phrase called 瑞雪兆丰年 or 大雪兆丰年 (heavy snow indicates a good year), so I made a combination from those to make a name: 恒瑞(héng ruì). 恒: determined, perseverant; 瑞: lucky, auspicious. Hope you like it~

Hi! My name is fathima (meaning “daughter of the prophet” or to abstain/wean”) and my last name means “winner” What name would you suggest? Love from UAE 🫶🏼 And thank you! :)
@Jin_ChineseTeacher3 ай бұрын
Thanks for the comment! So Chinese words for “winner” would be 赢家、优胜者etc., and even though 赢 and 胜 are Chinese surnames, they're a bit too rare, so I would suggest using 成 instead. It usually means complete, succeed, I guess it‘s near to "winner" on some level. Prophet is more near to what we call “圣人” in tradtional Chinese culture; and 令媛 is a word used to call other people's daughter respectfully, while 媛 is a character meaning lovely or beauty. So together you can use the combinaiton 成圣媛 (chéng shèng yuán) to be your Chinese name. Hope you like it😊

Hi Jin Tan, I started to learn Chinese language again after 21 years. I remembered my teacher gave me a name based on the sound of my name (and maybe the meaning). Unfortunately I don't remember it anymore. My name sounds like 'ti-ya' (meaning: a beautiful girl). I don't have any family name. Could you please give me a Chinese name based on that? Thank you very much.

Very logical and precise explanation with a grid-like structure.. extremely helpful❤
我的妻子头发长也黑色的。→ 我妻子的头发很长,也很黑。or 我妻子的头发是黑色的,也很长。 or 我妻子的头发又黑又长/又长又黑。 This way would sound more natural. 又…又… is a structure meaning "both… and…" e.g. 他又高又帅。(He's tall and handsome.) Other sentences are all good👍

My brain said nope and refused to absorb this knowledge 😂
And plz allow me to correct it a bit :) You can say “因为汉字很有魅力,中国(的)菜/食物很好吃”. because 美丽 is usually used to describe a person or a view, and with 汉字 it's not very proper. And I believe you wanted to say "Because characters are beautiful and Chinese food is delicious?", in that case the structure should be n.+v.(+n.) 汉字有魅力, or n.+adj. 中国(的)菜好吃 to make declarative sentence. 的 is more often used to describe STH belongs to SB (pron./n.+的+n. e.g. 我的书包) or STH is like what (adj.+n. e.g.好吃的中国菜 ).

Hi Jin Tan, I've just found your channel through this video. Could you help me think of a Chinese name, please? My surname is Hegedűs, which basically translates to "violinist, violin player". And my first name is Blanka, which means "white, bright, pure". Thank you very much.
@Jin_ChineseTeacher4 ай бұрын
Thanks for the comment. There are a few Chinese surnames relevant to instruments, 琴, 钟, 管, 阮, etc., and violin translated to Chinese is 小提琴, so you can use 琴. (Actually 琴 as a character can refer to instruments that have strings in general, or specifically means the traditional Chinese instrument 古琴). For “first name” you can use 洁(clean, clear) & 纯 (pure), these two characters make a beautiful combination for girls' name. Together it's 琴洁纯 (qín jié chún). Hope you like it😊
