Great video. I've found that using a smaller Phillips head screwdriver works a bit better than a flat head screwdriver when "winding up" the switch during reassembly.

Thanks to Allan Pavon, Windex and microfibers cleaned up Hunter's "Bright Brass" finish really well and not a single yellow lacquer had peeled off.

I have a Casablanca Metropolitan Fan from 2002 and have had to get the flywheel replaced several times, as they usually last 4-5 years, then start to warp on one side and drop down. I saw the aluminum flywheel being sold a few days ago, and wonder if it has been working good or any issues. The problem has been with the Casablanca Flywheels is there is only one set screw, and it can't hold up the weight of the 5 blades after a few years of use.
@AdinPanthersFanHobbyАй бұрын
With the benefit of the aluminum flywheel, it's best-suited for troublesome fans with heavier blade hubs, longer blades, and blade arm skirts that rub against the switch housing. The aluminum flywheels are best-suited for the Stealth, Malibu Star, Avalon, Metropolitan/Metropolitan II (like the one you have), Mission, Cathay, Bel Air/Bel Air Halo, etc. The aluminum flywheel was first developed in March of 2023 by Fan Man Lighting for a customer's Malibu Star that they had to change the flywheel a couple of times. They tried it on the Stealth and it made a big difference to have the blade hub straight and true. Domenic Tessari had used it on the Stealth, but he put a couple of rubber washers in between the blade hub and the metal flywheel. The only issue is that the aluminum flywheel doesn't work with Venus fans unfortunately. The aluminum flywheel was patterned after the 0001650 rubber flywheel, so the blade hole spacing should be the same for the aluminum and rubber flywheel. If the setscrew is loose on the flywheel, you'll have to be sure the setscrew on the flywheel lines up with the dimple on the rotor shaft. The setscrew should be a 1/8" or 3mm Allen key screw. For rubber flywheels, I only reserve it for lighter blade arms (Panama, Delta II, Zephyr, Saturn, Victorian to name a few). Now to remove the switch housing, it's very important to use a 3-6lb hammer and a punch or socket bit tool similar in size to the shaft when pressing out the shaft. Avoid using hammers under 3lbs as the shaft can mushroom inwards and won't come out. Be very gentle to hammer the switch housing back onto the fan as you don't want to run the risk of damaging the top end bell of the XLP motor. I've also think it would be best to tape the switch housing and motor before removing the switch housing, then rotate it 90 degrees away from the original position of the switch housing being assembled from factory should it ever be loose again. It's also not a bad idea to change the bearings on the fan so you don't have to come back and remove the switch housing again. If you have anymore questions, email me at [email protected]. Hope this helps.

How am I supposed to read the serial number? I can only tell that it’s the 150th fan made the day it rolled off the assembly line.
@AdinPanthersFanHobbyАй бұрын
First letter starts with month (A = January, B = February, C = March, and so forth until you reach to L = December). Second letter indicates year (N = 1980, O = 1981, P = 1982, and so forth until you reach to M = 2002), keep in mind Q, Z, and I were not used. NN = 2003, OO = 2004, PP = 2005, and so forth until you reach to ZZ = 2013. QQ and VV were not used at all. First 2 digits indicates day, and last 3 or 4 digits indicates unit of the fan made on that day. However, some early 1980 - 1982 Casablancas have a sequential sequence where the 5 digit numbers indicates unit of the fan made on that month and year. This website helps you identify month, day, year, and unit of the fan: web.archive.org/web/20101019165103/casablancafanrepair.com/HTMLFiles/warranty/WarrPDFiles/WEB_New_WarrantyStatus.pdf You can also take a look of its serial number here: imgur.com/gallery/noA8q2i

I definitely agree for sure if it weren't for them to be on factory low. They should've added a wall control to operate both fans and have the chain set to high speed from factory.
