I'm seeing threads where this may be more than I need to simply move photos. Or rather, more complicated than I want for the first go around 😅. Do you know if I have to something other than plug in all the devices you shared? Like if the Lacie has some addtiional software requirement? I now have everything you mentioned. Thanks again.

What generation of iPhone works that way? I tried on Pro Max 13 and the hard drive never shows up. Does it have to be the cable that came with the SSD or will the Apple cable work?

Does this process move a copy of the photo or video or does it move the file completely (remove it from the phone)?

It only moves a copy. You will still have the file on your phone.

Hi, I have a 13 Pro and am using a WD My Passport external hard drive. Everything works up to the point of clicking the "save" in the upper right corner -- it's not clickable. Do you have any idea why I can't actually move the images over to the external hard drive? Thank you.

Hmmm, I wonder if it is a formatting issue? I am not sure, but sometimes you need format your drive.

@@spillthegoods He discovered that iPhone13 cannot save to an NTFS drive, because it shows up as read only on the iPhone. He reformatted the drive to exFAT, and it worked like a charm. (We had to empty the hard drive first before reformatting.)

Does this step delete the file from the phone or does it duplicate the file. I would like to leave the original file on the phone but use the hard drive version for other purposes.

As were the old, so we will be. Cars replaced carriages and carriage drivers lost their jobs but car mechanics got theirs. Electricity was utilized and torches were gone. Torch-handlers lost their jobs but electricians were born. When something dies, something else is created. This is the cycle of progress and life. It doesn't matter if we like it or not.

really? BOTH? this is how i feel at times? i wanna have conversations about how we as a society are going? if its even a good idea but folks are like "it is what it is" heck my state didnt even vote for our governor last election. only 37% of registered voters caster their votes. now my governor is passing bills left and right. to sat he's conservative thats are some views outta left field. (well technically "right" leaning but definitely NOT conservative) but yeah, AI takes a lotta jobs. and while folks are having a hard time affording housing the jobs that dont need a college education are being automated. and even certain college education based jobs are being replaced. and all the HUMAN INCOME is being lost, while its great for products being made. theres less job wages being earned. its great for corporations cuz they dont have to pay 1) wages/salaries 2) Insurance 3) retirement contributions and so on machines just need electricity and maintenance. which requires LESS people than a human labor.

It's interesting that the educational inequality seems to be increasing. Just like we have economic classes, we appear to have something similar to educational classes. So, for example, I found that I understand all of what was said, but I know for a fact that the people I work along side of would not understand it. Yet, when I look up towards the people who are working on AI, they seem to be impossibly far from me in terms of intelligence or education. It's as if there is a middle class and this rant, and myself, are a part of it.

I understood 100% of those words and how they were used. That said, I believe AI has positive applications, such as advancing or enhancing other technologies, assisting in research and development, and uplifting an entirely new cohort of people via emerging industries and the associated entrepreneurship. On the flip side, I do believe we need to tread carefully with respect to the product of AI creation, such as audiovisual and literary works. There are dangerous ramifications for the abuse of this technology. Social media spam is simply the tip of the iceberg.

Why not just use Image Capture and select a specific folder on any of the drives attached to your computer? That way you don't have to unplug any drives.

So would this work in reverse? After I’m able to upload videos to the device, would someone else with a different phone, say android, and be able to grab those videos for upload to their phone?
