Great little film. Leaves it up to the viewer to create an ending... to use his/her imagination. He may visit his mother... he may not. But he stops dealing in drugs... the thing that caused the problem between himself and his mother. Even if he doesn't reconcile with her... and there is a good chance that he doesn't, his life has taken a turn for the better as a result of their sad history.

You set up the mother who abandoned him and there was this ticking clock, in that she's going to die and is he going to meet with her? Why set that up if you're not going to pay it off??? It just becomes a generic, seen it a million times, drug deal gone wrong and then the protagonist turns his back on it. Some good ideas but a messy plot, unrefined.
