It would be cool to see them expand upon this gameplay style. I'd also hope for a hard mode, but that will never happen.

This was a pretty good game, but the sequal took all the good things from this game, and added even more, it was phenomenal. More and different mini games, 4 characters to choose from with different abilities.. So good.

I'm curious to see how the 4 characters work. That's a cool idea. I'll have to look at that game too sometime. That sounds very interesting.

I remember for like my 11th birthday getting both this game and its sequel and absolutely adoring them! There’s a super special place in my heart for them, and recently got to replay them on my Wii U. Cool vid, loved your take on it :)

Ultimate NES Remix was the version I played, the only thing exclusive to it is Speed Mario Bros. which is just Super Mario Bros. but played at 2x Speed, which to my knowledge wasnt a Remix effect in the actual games
@HydratedGaming
@HydratedGaming 29 күн бұрын
I don’t think that effect was in the Wii U version, which is weird because you’d think that would be an easy one for them to do to a lot of the games. Thank you for catching that.

just wanna say you explaining the sims timeline like spin offs was hilarious. also if you enjoy this version i actually do think you should try the pc one. it runs way better. i am used to the controls and i dont think they are bad at all, and there are pc exclusive sims and an entire garden you can play in with new essences thats not on console. its worth trying

I will keep an eye on it for a sale then. Does it work ok with modern PCs or do I have to mess with it a bit? I know the sims 1 and 2 don’t play well with newer PCs and versions of windows.

@@HydratedGaming yeah the older sims games run horrible on modern computers, but honestly i don't remember doing anything extra to get mysims working, just bought it from ea's app. also i wanted to add the garden was used for online stuff before, i guess you and your friends could visit each others gardens and exchange essences, there was 9 buildings you guys can deco together, there was a chat bar and unique emotes. honestly a wonderful idea but the online functionality is long gone. you can still visit your own garden tho, i use mine for storage lol.

I've never played the first two Endless Ocean games, so I appreciate the history lesson! It kind of makes this game seem even more disappointing to me, like it's the Paper Mario: Sticker Star of the Endless Ocean franchise... Great job on the review, and keep up the good work!

Yes it is, and the second one (Blue World) expands on it with more bodies of water to explore, from the artic to even a river. The recent entry on the other hand is a disappointment, exclusively multiplayer focused, with only one body of water that is randomly generated. I'm considering selling my switch cause the modern titles really don't hold up in care compared to their older counterparts.
@HydratedGaming
@HydratedGaming 2 ай бұрын
That’s a good point I wish I would have mentioned about not having different bodies of water. That was one of the coolest aspects of Blue World. This new map doesn’t feel like a real place in the world. Regarding Switch Games, I’d say they seem to be either really fantastic or meh. Mario, Zelda, Kirby, and Smash I think knocked it out of the park this Gen. Pokémon, Yoshi, DK, Mario Sports, Mario Maker, and Wii Sports were kind of disappointing. (and I’d add Animal Crossing and Mario Kart to the disappointing list but I believe that may be a hot take).

Yesn't. They should have adedd more animations to mammals and marine reptiles ("dinosaurs") that would make them more different than fishes and sharks. Like they would interact with eachother and seem like they are actually smart. You could also go out to the surface and take pictures of them jumping along other sea birds.

Couldn't agree more on the point of it not being a good sequel. I think if it wasn't branded as an EO game the reception would've been different. It'd be nice if they ported Blue World though. Great review, I've enjoyed your EO stuff and hope to see other content and reviews from you :)

I literally just found out about the Endless Ocean franchise today, and as someone who loves to be in the water, I was immediately drawn to the long overdue addition of an air and depth meter. I assume the depth meter is in meters because the diver's icon turns yellow between the 30 and 45 markings. That is no coincidence: 40 meters (~130 feet) is the safe depth limit for recreational scuba diving, and 20 meters (~65 feet) is where you earn your basic open water certification.
@HydratedGaming
@HydratedGaming 2 ай бұрын
I know nothing about diving, so that’s a cool detail I would have never picked up on, thank you for pointing that out! and assuming they did that on purpose, it’s pretty cool that the developers did their homework on that. You can tell this game was made by people who really like the art of diving.
@scratchpad7954
@scratchpad7954 2 ай бұрын
@HydratedGaming Indeed! I noticed in Subnautica that the depth meter does one better on this one by actually giving a numerical readout of how deep you're diving. I forgot to add this in my previous comment, but I'm not sure if there is a way to set the depth meter to feet. Not that I would want to try; Japan uses the metric system anyway, which is extremely linear.

Luminous sucks compared to this masterpiece ! It's sad that luminous will be the first endless ocean game to a lot of people, it could have been so much more. I'm scared people will think "that's endless ocean ? Damn it's bad, not worth playing the other games" and crash the licence's popularity. I really hope luminous wonnt be the last endless ocean game ever
@HydratedGaming
@HydratedGaming 2 ай бұрын
Obviously you never know, but I don’t think it’ll be the last game. Arika has been making these diving games since 2001, and they don’t really have any other big franchises (go check out their Wikipedia page, what a weird list of games developed). So I’m hopeful someday the Blue World fans will get the game they want.

I’m glad you liked the game! I spent hours playing this game as a kid, it was one of my favorites growing up. I loved the story and characters even though they were a bit campy, I loved collecting treasure and finding mythical species. I was really excited for the new game, but it doesn’t even feel like an endless ocean game… Curious to hear your thoughts if/when you get around to it. But I think I’ll just go back to playing this game instead

I just got it the other day, so I need some time to go through it yet, but based on what all the fans are saying, I don’t have high hopes. I hope some day the fans get the sequel they deserve.
