I’ve been to some games with enormous crowds in my time but, this small crowd was the second loudest sound I have ever heard behind Cathy Freeman’s 400m final in Sydney. Truly unbelievable game. We had endured such a dry period as Hawks fans and we knew this was the beginning of something special. The following week almost didn’t seem to matter when we lost to North. We knew our time had arrived. One of the best games I’ve ever witnessed in my lifetime.

The best part is that the umpies took it on the chin and didn’t award ridiculous 50m penalties and report the poor bastard. Not like today’s umpires a sensitive woke bunch of sooks.
