How cold does it get at night? Are the bedding they provided enough to stay warm?
@anthonyhitchings10519 күн бұрын
top sheet, 3 blankets, cover slip - no problems. It was very warm when we stayed there in early July 2024 - we slept under sheet only for first half of the night.
@emptynesthikers3 күн бұрын
Yes. Very warm. And you could always ask for more if needed.

Hi.. sorry, just seeing this question. We did this late August. Probably around 3rd week of August.

Hey Cathy, it’s May 6, 2024. For some reason when I woke up this morning I was thinking about you. Checked your Facebook and from there found your KZfaq. What an awesome accomplishment you two did here. Suck beautiful views. Hope things are going good for you and congratulations on completing this hike!!!

That's a great idea metachalker1624 has, guys and well intended, I'm sure! At least speaking for myself, you're hiking my old stomping grounds that I've been away from since your mom and I beat feet around Sandpoint when you hadn't lost your front teeth yet, Roy and I MISS that country more than there are words to express. 😭 You're taking me back to the land that I love. ❤️ Thank you for sharing your amazing videos! Keep 'em coming!

We get an interesting mix of viewers. Some just want to see the trail while others want to see us hear the story and get trail information. So we try our best to get a little of everything. if we could record the entire trail we could! Usually we are talking where the trail isn't quite so exiting. Im glad you are enjoying the videos!

Sure a lot different than out neck of the woods. It has its own unique beauty. Or a hanging spider, that would really freak me out. What’s that stuff hanging off the trees?
@emptynesthikers6 ай бұрын
Spanish Moss, it’s all over in areas. Much like the witches hair moss around here just bigger.

Roy, you may not remember me but your mom and I go way back. She is one of my best friends of all time and when I asked about you I got an ear full of pretty cool things! I could hear the pride in her voice! Your videos definitely got a flood of memories started on this end! I live for the day I can leave Kansas and beat feet back up there in the mountains that I dearly love. You can tell your mom that "Aunt Na" just subbed your channel and I'm pretty sure she'll take it from there! It won't bore you! 😉👉🏻👈🏻😂 Great job here by the way! I'm proud of you! 😊

Father's day 2021 i took my last hike into Avalanche Lake to visit where my parents ashes are. got on the trail before sunrise. had well over an hour alone at the far end of the lake, looking out at Heaven's Peak and reminiscing about times gone by moved to the Andes in August 2021 Ecuador is my home now i'll miss my visits to talk with my folks, but they're always with me anyway Thanks for the video

How may other hikers did you see on the trial?
@emptynesthikers6 ай бұрын
It was sporadic…10-15. Big group headed to lake Ellen Wilson to camp and a few headed to Sperry with a few singles coming and going in between. If you are looking to get away from the crowds this is a good one in comparison.

We took the Grinnel Lake trail in 2021, and missed the glacier hike due to time. After seeing your video, looking forward to doing this hike. Thank you.

One of our top 10 hikes for sure. Would like to record it again when its not so smokey. Glad you enjoyed the video!
@emptynesthikers7 ай бұрын
One tip. If you can, bring a water filter. Every time we take this hike we find people who have misjudged the trail and are out of water. We sat at one of the streams for 20 min filling bottles one hot day.

thanks for the video.... my parents ashes are at the far end of Avalanche Lake, looking out toward Heaven's Peak every Mother's day and Father's day i would be on the trail before sunrise to reach the lake alone for a silent moment with them. did it last in 2021, before i retired to the Andes in Ecuador. thanks for the memories
Great video of a great hike! I have been to Glacier many times so when I realized you were doing this as a day hike I thought "no way, you are going to be finishing this in the dark!" At least you knew that in advance and brought some lights😀
@emptynesthikers7 ай бұрын
Hey thanks, Glad you liked it! Yes especially getting a later start by taking the shuttle. We have hiked that trail between McDonald and Sperry Chalet many times before so at the end there knowing the trail was helpful. It gets REALLY dark in Glacier park. Only one headlamp was working 😆.
