Hi there does this have anything to do with the steering angle sensor? Having the code come up, mechanic saying my column has a lot of play like yours, but we are both a bit stuck, thinking could be the rack. Any advice please cheers

Not sure, I’m not really a technical one I’m just a worried customer trying to do their own research really. He’s just told me that’s what’s coming up. Steering feels extremely loose, lots of play even when car is switched off, car leaning to the right, to the point where I need to use strength to get it back in line. Changed wishbones, bearings, shocks, been to tracking, still nothing.

Start with steering column U-Joint usually wears out first located next to the pedals. Feel for a play or little delay in movement while turning steering left and right. Worth checking steering wheel centre bolt behind airbag. Steering angle sensor is there for ESP/ABS and adaptive headlights.

@@AutoDasGarage appreciate the response, bought the column today as indeed there was lots of play down near the pedals, he’s going to fit that, and yes ESC light on and funny you mentioned headlight as strangely my headlight suddenly stopped working when set to auto? Comes back to life when switching left to off? And would a new steering angle sensor need calibrating, Thanks again bud appreciated

@@utlm6168 On B6/B7 drive it for a bit or alternative use VCDS > ABS > BASIC SETTINGS with login code displayed. For Steering Angle Sensor CALIBRATION.

hey! I have a problem with my audi. firstly i read the stock software and copied it on my pc. then I flashed the ecu with a copied software from another similar ecu. programming went without a problem but the car wont start. when i try to connect the car to mpps it says ”ecu not found”. Did I just toast my ecu or what….

I mean that can i somehow tell if the ecu is still okay. engine cranks and radiator fan turn on after about 4seconds i turn ignition on but the car wont start. how can i get mpps find my ecu so i can program the stock software back

File from other “similar ECU” not compatible. Flash stock ECU file using bootmode.

I see. I’m not able to flash the stock software to the ecu. Every time I plug the mpps to the car and try do so something it says ecu not found. Can I somehow find the signal? Thanks for help man!

Pull the Fuel Pump Fues next time and crank the car the car will not start allowing you to crank and build oil pressure before your first initial start up

My brake pad wire is broken, a mechanic accidentally cut it off while fixing something on left wheel. Can this warning sign prevent me from starting the engine now. The engine does not turn over. The warning light was on for over 3 weeks. Now the car engine won’t turn when I insert the key fob. I drive a 2009 Vw Passat b6 2.0 T.

Broken wire in the brake pad wear, won’t cause car not to start. You have different issue. Get a code reader.

Always ID as you have done to ensure you have selected the right ecu (as you can see there are 2 options for the me7.5 1.8t) I would recommend everyone click on read too so there is a backup in case anything goes wrong, lastly before writing you must manually checksum the file (by clicking the checksum button) to ensure the file is properly ready before writing else you may run into random running issues

I’d recommend ktag for full backup before playing with MPPS. This software is good for quick read, edit, and flash. But if you about to read already tuned Ecu I’d give it a second thought. As for checksums I use free software called IronFelix.

Mine was just oxidation/bad contact in the connector. Poked female contact with a paper clip and warning gone.

We’re here to see you do the work man, not listen to you talk about it after you did the work. You didn’t explain that the sensor sent the code thus turning on the light cause the sensor was non existent! Then, you put all new pads on with the sensors, which is why there’s no more light, and you don’t even show it???? Pffff, try again (a little harder) next time.

you can fix only the cabel... when the pads are stil in good conditions and the cabel is broken just buy new ones for max 10 euro..

It's good temporary, but you have to replace that rubber chanel and fix the wires well. (with heat shrink, splice or replace the whole wiring in the door. Btw u can bus some fixing material for especially this)

Hey brother I did the same Exact procedure to Clone another Me7.1.1 ecu and after reading full back up it was successful but after writing to the New ecu the write was successful according to KTAG but I keep getting in the Cluster safe and car starts and turn off then I try just to write jthe eeprom and same thing starts and safe in the cluster any help will be appreciated

I have the same issue what you had, mechanic is saying its the steering rack not the column. I showed him your vid, and said he already checked it without taking it apart. I think he checked it from underneath the car. Any suggestions bud? Btw its my passat b7 Thanks

It’s really hard to tell without physical check. You don’t have to take steering column out to test it for a play. You hold end bit where it mounts to steering rack ‘from inside of the car’ then turn steering wheel left to right smoothly and if column is bad you will feel play. Could be track rod ends too.

@@ReForceTek hi buddy hope your well. Fitted rack and arms track rods and ends. Vibrating is still there but its more like sensation rather than really bad vibration now. And starts at 65mph and if your on the motorway and road inclines or declines you can also feel it. Im a bit lost on what to do now lol thanks

@@ImranAli-zm6yg my issue was a loose steering, not a vibration. 65-70 mph vibration usually caused by bad-damaged tyres or unbalanced wheels. Try swapping wheels from back to fronts. See if any better.

nope you cant... you cant do it in oldschool way which is unsolder the IO(chip) itself and put it in programer and rewrite program or you can use some expensive stuff for doing this with no soldering procedure
