I resigned 3 days before my 20K sign on was to be paid out. I read the writing on the wall, got through 4 shifts and said heck no I’m not going to be stuck here for 2 years. I have absolutely no regrets and it opened my eyes to the world of hurt that is our healthcare system. I work outpatient dialysis and pediatric home care and will never look for another hospital or long term care position.

These Nursing Homes can throw out those kinda bonuses . Yet they cantstart a Maintenamce Tech $ 20 an hr if you go there & apply for a job .

I accepted a bonus and I had to pay back $4000 bc that was the amount I had received thus far. I really received less bc it's taxed. Going forward I decline bonuses. I don't like feeling trapped or having to pay back anything.

In many work sites APAP and Ibuprofen are available to the workers for their personal use. Facility purchases for their employees or allows employees to use gratis from supply stock. No other meds though.

Rule 1- Don’t become a nurse Rule 2- Keep your mouth shut. You make a mistake don’t talk to managers. If they fire you, so what. Rule 3- Get a good lawyer. Any questions? See Rule 1 Bedside RN x 30 years.

This video talks down to nursing staff: "Okay boys and girls. Now don't forget to tell the state board your address"...I mean...Really? Very basic and shallow. Nurses need more nuanced (or, perhaps "granular") examples of how to stay out of court, or jail. More explanation is needed so that nurses who don't (or can't) avoid all the landmines in healthcare can run. Run-like-the-wind... before being prosecuted after being set up for failure, only to fail, and face punishment.

Hello, love your channel. I currently living Indiana and I am thinking about doing travel nursing, do I need LLC and EIN number? What happens if I decide to spend 1 or 2 as travel nurse no longer living in Indiana but my RN license is in Indiana. Would I need to get LLC in every different state?
@loriebrown44356 ай бұрын
I really cannot give legal advise but for education purposes, you only need an LLC in one state but don't need one to travel

Why doesn’t the BRN help their nurses out. Place laws to protect nurses from hospitals being unfair. Actually make laws that will make nurses want to stay working for these hospitals, I feel if this continues no one will want to work for the hospitals.
@empowerednurses8 ай бұрын
Thanks for your comment. The BRN only regulates the practice of nursing. It has no authority over hospitals. I suggest this be taken up with the legislature. Feel free to discuss this with your state representative.

i remember during covid we would get the base experience adjusted rate and all these new contract nurses or floated nurses were getting double what I was getting with half the work being done. the primary nurses were responsible to do everything from documentation to bloodworks, medications...these nurses simply did pharmacy errands a few blood works, where they would miss and collapse all the veins...the nurses who were loyal to the hospital with 10-15 patients to take care of,,,,were never compensated, actually we were with a 1500 dollar bonus that was taxed...lol my blood churns !!!! i tell you ....when I remember how we were practically forced to go to work during covid...if we didn't want to be laid off...while the rest of the united states,,,,were at home getting unemployment checks LOL...what a world we live in...what a world..many nurses put themselves AND their families in jeopardy and this is how this country paid us....very good.

Nurses can be "blood thirsty" with their disciplining of other nurses. Last decade the profession moved to being non- punitive. As a whole, we should chose to educate! We should chose to not be the reason someone doesn't make money or loose their license.

Nurses also need to be careful about *remaining silent* during examinations when they observe misconduct by the physician. When both the doctor and the nurse are female and the patient is a naked male, the naked male patient is actually the vulnerable one in the room. 🥼👩🏼⚕️ 🛌 📝👩🏽⚕️

I remember one patient was eaten up with cancer with mets, and she arrived at the ICU and she started coding. I called the code. A nurse told me, "Surely you are not going to code this patient," I said. YES because there is NO ORDER for DNR. The patient IS full code. So after CPR and intubation I called the spouse and the spouse told me, "I know ....is eaten up with cancer but if you do not do everything you can I will personally sue you." I told the spouse, "well I did do everything I could and I just notified you .... has a breathing tube and is still alive." So he could not sue me. FOLLOW THE LETTER OF THE LAW! If there is no admitting DNR order, treat them as FULL CODE! EVEN IF THEY ARE EATEN UP WITH CANCER! As long as I live I will never forget that.

I remember one nurse had a great relationship with a doctor and she (a RN) told me she sometimes writes orders without asking him, and he always signs off on it. Well, I told her not to do that because if SOMETHING GOES WRONG he will throw you under the bus. That's practicing medicine without a license. If that worth getting in trouble over just because you feel proud of your relationship with a doctor? DON'T DO IT! EVER!
