What did you use to hook up the Nano II to the side of your FX6 - Im stuck there? Can you help?
@tomquinlanfilmmaker19 күн бұрын
Just some small rig 15mm rails. You need a baseplate of some type also to get the rails on. I’m using a small rig base plate too, it’s sort of bulky one, I don’t recommend it from the size point of view, I’m sure they’re better options out there. but the rods are fine.

Great tips Tom, I often work where background sound levels are noisy and have experimented with your first tip of normalize audio levels. It seems to be more effective than voice isolation or dialog leveller in many instances. I am really pleased I have discovered your channel, thanks for that

Brilliant, I'm glad to hear that. I will have a few more tutorials soon. Just have a backlog of films to finish first then I'll focus on the filmmaking tutorials again for awhile. Anything I can help with, let me know and I might be able to work it into a future video!

This is actually one of the best looking videos I’ve seen on KZfaq reminds of like a cinematic 300 film with Greek gods 🔥 Do you do private consulting? Im a photographer and I do a lot of video as well. I’m really struggling with having images with awful overdone colors and sometimes just straight up lacking color. I’m trying my best but I’m so upset it feels like I’m just missing something other people know. My style is similar to David urbanke but I feel like I’m a 100 miles away from his soft cinematic tones. I don’t want to be just like him I just think his lighting is the best in photo game Thanks so much btw this video was very helpful. You are a gem!

Thanks so much. I really appreciate the lovely comment! Keep going, it just takes time, and experience, and it will click! As for the consulting, I'm open to it for sure! If you want to drop me an email via my website, and we could discuss it more then! :)

Thanks for the explanation. Really like the on -off part. One point is that the laptop light is a bit hot. It makes the laptop the brightest part of the image near you. A tiny bit distracting. Maybe a negative fill could help?
@tomquinlanfilmmaker5 ай бұрын
Hey there, thanks for watching. I like doing those on-off bits too! :) Yeah, I could try flag off the light in some way, it's a tight space though, so I'd probably have to use like a strip of black gaff tape on the side of the tube or something to help shape it away. I'd have to try it really. It doesn't bother me too much as I suppose my reasoning is keeping it simple/fast just for my usual basic editing tutorials. It's a ton better then what it was and I suppose this video is more aimed towards beginners. I do understand about the hotter area on the corner of the laptop, it's likely when I make a video editing tutorial I'll turn the laptop slightly which may help. It's a shame it's a such a bright back on the laptop. lol. I know for sure I'm going to have people saying their eye is drawn to the light in the back as well as it's the brightest part, personally I like the backlight, I feel it relaxes the room. The two hottest parts are either side too, so for me, it feels like it frames the center more. I'm also thinking there was a spot light on the ceiling overhead me, which I might have been able to use that as a hair light as well for extra separation, but then there's two in the ceiling, so that would affect the background, and taking one out isn't worth it for what it is, but maybe it's something to play around with for the next time. Again it's more of a fast setup to make things easy to get editing tutorials out and how I went about it. It'll help someone hopefully :)

i mean... you can change the keyboard shortcuts in like 2 min. why do u need a backup?
@tomquinlanfilmmaker6 ай бұрын
Hey Dejan! In the full video, I go deeper into how I have everything more or less remapped, to help with speed when editing. If I had to spend an hour re-mapping keys every time I had to do re-install or if I switched computer, that would be an hour here and an hour there, it all adds up. And it can be tedious trying to remember every shortcut you’ve remapped especially when you want to focus on being creative in the edit! The full video is on my channel, where there’ll be more context! 🙂
@dejan33156 ай бұрын
@@tomquinlanfilmmaker oh ok, you doing this for video editing. Sorry thought you meant shortcuts you need for your daily private use.

By the way, tip for the thumbnail! Try to decrease the amount of clutter and details, there's too much things asking for attention: Mouse, arrows, the clip, editing software. You could simplify it to just having the mouse be highlighted which can create some kind of question in the viewers mind like "how is a mouse supposed to do that". Personally, I think the text can be left to the title of the video
@tomquinlanfilmmaker6 ай бұрын
Hey man thanks for that, I agree with you, and I’ve updated it now. We’ll see if it has better success! 😁 thumbnails are harder than the whole filming + editing combined lol. 🤣
