I have the 13022 model .22 pellet, still...... You'll be surprised, just how fast you can load these things... You have an original there, my friend... The original port did in fact used to be plastic (inside). Mine like many others, broke. The spare aftermarket part, came in brass,which was an improvement...Two of my friends had one of these too... Couldn't hit sh!t with it, until I sighted them up, for em..... Was one of the most powerful, non competition pistols on the market, at the time.... Mine will be passed down to my son, who loves pistol too.... 👍

After watching your video I bought one of these engines. I removed the side rods and adjusted the burner with the screw adjust on the filler valve. She runs like a Swiss watch! Great set of videos. Any tips on balancing the blades. Do I need to add washers to get the pulley wheels aligned? I seem to be going round in circles and blade keeps popping off. Cheers Alan
@RetroSteamTech11 күн бұрын
Thanks. Yes, getting the blade to track correctly is a bit tricky. As you have probably realised the top pulley is adjustable for tilt, you just have to play around with that until the blade stays on the pulleys.
@kayjas2711 күн бұрын
@@RetroSteamTech thank you for the reply. I perceived and finally got it tracked. I started by positioning the blade central to all 3 wheels and watched carefully the effect of the trim wheel. It is very sensitive and only needed tiny adjustments to track. The mistake I made was making too large adjustments and hoping for the best. Thanks again for making the video set.... It's not unusual for older model steam engines to have things rattling around in the boiler. With Mamods it's fairly easy to take an end cap off and clean out the boiler. They generally use seamless tube. This one has a lap seam so I will probably leave it alone. Cheers, Alan.

@ronitsingh8527 күн бұрын
this is a cannedy Otto ROYAL drill press made in the 1920s or 1930s. I think it may have been rebadged only. This is a solid piece of drill. I bought one for $40 to get at the machined cast iron pulleys to put on my walker turner 900 drill press as an upgrade. I dont know if yours has the cast iron pulleys or not. From the looks of it, it could be zinc alloy?
@RetroSteamTech27 күн бұрын
Thank you so much for this information. I had never heard of Canedy-Otto before. Looking online I managed to find a catalogue, mine would appear to be a No.16 Royal Bench Mount drill press. From what I know about Craftsman they did rebadge other manufacturers products so that could explain it. The pulleys on mine are also cast iron.
@ronitsingh8527 күн бұрын
@@RetroSteamTech nice, glad to hear the pulleys are original! the motor one did not look like it because it was more of a grey color instead of the brownish red color, am sure it was polished up at some point but yeah it looks like the original after seeing your other restoration vids. I locally found 2 of these royal drill presses where I live, thats when I saw the cast iron pulleys, because these are from the 20s or early 30s, they were made very well! One I saw on line is a floor model, the seller would not replay and so I left it, he wanted $40, I found a bench model like your later but had to drive 1hr one way to get it. for $40 too! They initially asking $100. later from the mid or late 30s and onwards, all the pulleys were this zinc alloy, (pot metal type) casting, no good even though they worked fine. the cast iron pulleys on the royal are machined and balanced, they do not vibrate and spin true. either someone slapped on a craftsman badge on it or craftsman had them outsourced. did you see any other holes on the head casting where the badge is? the royal badge was a big oval badge. if there isn't then craftsman did outsource it which would be the first that I am hearing about it. like I said I am suing the pulleys for my walker turner 900 drill press which is a floor model from the 1940s. the bearings and pulleys will fit, bearings are same and so is the spindle assy. funny that the royal has a beefier casting all around including the column but the spindle assy is the same, just know that the pinion and rack teeth are of finer pitch on the royal. you cant sub with another even though the rest are same. the royals are harder to find and people dont know much about them, they have plenty of walker turners, craftsman, atlas and delta drill presses to go around! oringally the royal came with a 1/3hp motor. you tilt the motor mount up to change the belt, quick and easy.
@RetroSteamTech26 күн бұрын
@@ronitsingh85 No, there are no holes in the casting for the Royal badge or the side plate. Which probably means it was made for Craftsman by Canedy-Otto like you said. The motor would probably have been changed once it was imported into the UK. The Crompton Parkinson motor fitted is 1/2hp and yes, I really like the motor mount, very easy to change the speed.
@ronitsingh8526 күн бұрын
@@RetroSteamTech well then it’s a genuine craftsman from factory! American old drill presses are nice! I am sure England, Swiss and German ones are nicer and higher quality. But there are always something unique about every machine that captures the heart! Glad you have one and will be using it with joy. Try a link belt, less vibration and smoother running.

Thanks Rob. Yes, I'm not good shooting rifles freehand, much better with pistols. The scope is 4 x 20, which is fine as the maximum distance I shoot over is 25 yards. Also, a large modern scope would look wrong on it. It's fairly small, more of a carbine so that scope suits it well. Cheers, Alan.
