Thanks for this. I know im a little late to the party, but great video. Very well done and clearly explained. I have some tips i learned from ogp guys for parts i measure at my company, but are valid for many measurement sets, especially circular parts/features When measuring parts with a slope such as the OD of threads on a pill bottle take 4 points 90 degrees apart around the circle, and at each point start with an autofocus point then set your z axis to that point then measure using the feature finder, move to the next point and repeat until youve got all 4 points then construct a circle using the 4 feature finder lines and construct the circle, select diameter and composite. If you are measuring multiple round parts you can measure 3 points around the outside of the part first then construct a circle then set your x y datums from the circle then do all your measure steps. It will center the measurements on the part, which is super helpful when measuring multiple of the same thing with part repeat. Again Great video im gonna check out your other videos for other helpful tips. I had to learn our scope by reverse engineering programs created before my time with the company and a few calls with the ogp guys (one dude was super helpful there i cant recall his name) to get my first routine programmed. Now my routines are "set it and forget it" routines like the old ronco infomercials. You tell it to start and you can go do other things and 20-30 min later its finished measuring all the dimensions of all the parts in the fixture/layout grid.

I’m having the hardest time on deciding on purchasing a Tormek T8 with additional water stone or Wicked Edge Gen 3 pro and possibly TSPROF KO3. I know some people that get the Tormek have said that they really don’t go back to using there guided sharpeners, any input is appreciated.

I cannot recall this software. I used to program and measure the antennas for the Nokia 3310 cell phone. This was done on a SmartScope ZIP250. I was lightning fast, and I made the program so that it checked all the distances and punched holes. After measurement, a report was generated, or data to statistical calculation. Here I did calculated the production capability and the machining capability. This was back in 2000.

You need to do equal amount of passes on each side of the knife , 4,3,2,1 , not just draw a bur , unless you do it even you'll end up with an uneven edge 👍
@danielslatenightsharpening2542 жыл бұрын
Hello Andrew, Yes I'm more than aware of that. The part that's unknown to the audience is that the side I'm focusing most of my time on is due to correcting a mistake I had made during the "learning" phase. So I appreciate the feedback, but I'm well aware of that. If you look at my KZfaq Chanel you'll see that I've had every sharpener on the market, so it's my first rodeo. Daniel

Is you bevel symmetrical on each side?
@danielslatenightsharpening2542 жыл бұрын
Hello, No it wasn't at the start of this video. The side where I'm focusing my time on is the side that's being corrected from a previous sharpening session. Thank you, Daniel

Just to let you know I use an ultrasonic cleaner on all my stones and there submerged in warm water for about 5 min I have had a couple stones fall off the holder WE uses double-sided tape to hold the stones and if one falls off just uses this 3M VHB 4910 Heavy Duty Mounting Tape - 0.75 in. x 15 ft its waterproof and heat resistant it's used a lot to hold molding on cars works perfect and doesn't change any angles or anything and they won't fall off again. Great vid I'm thinking of getting the commercial model upgrading from the WE-130 mainly for the quick adjustments. Thanks

Daniel what is your source for the chosera stones. I'm a wood worker. I'm borrrowing my son in laws machine . He doesnt have the aux table. seems like a really good application for chisels. Can add a 2 degree micro vey easily. or so it appears. Thanks for posting this.

No problem! The MM3D Quickstart Guide is a great resource. Fun Fact: You can use your auto focus "Point" to perform a "scan" in the Z axis. Imagine you're scanning a remote controller. Take about 20 auto focus points, copy it X times, and now you got a point cloud. Good luck

All mine are diamond to 3000 now I don't like ceramic because they will wear unevenly. Then you will have to use a glass plate with a grit to flatten them.
@danielslatenightsharpening254 Жыл бұрын
Never had that issue, but don't doubt it's validity. I've never havr had to sharpen my WE ceramics. They are much harder than a typical water stone

Great video!!! I'm currently in the "research" phase for an upcoming (possible) purchase of the Gen 3 Pro. I heard you mention a Wicked Edge Forum in your video; would you mind posting a link to that? I'd be very interested in reading more about the units.
@Garymayo3 жыл бұрын
I love the WS320. By far the best clamp design I have ever used. One thing I dislike is the built in storage below the unit. Not how I would have designed it. It’s far too big to hold 12 stones, holds 15 pretty well but an odd number of stones when they come in pairs won’t work and 18 stones won’t fit. To make matters worse, being conservative I require a minimum of 22 stones or placards to sharpen a knife to the point of justifying buying a $900 sharpener. Does the commercial unit hold all the stones you have / want? How many does it hold?
@danielslatenightsharpening2543 жыл бұрын
Hello Gary, Id say 16-18 stones would be its storage capacity. Then I use a seperate case for my balsa/leather straps. Id imagine you'd have the same stone capacity.....if anything buying the extra shelf from WE would solve that.
@Garymayo3 жыл бұрын
@@danielslatenightsharpening254 you would think the extra shelf would help but it really only takes up space. I’m going to possibly drill four new holes and move the sides out just enough to accommodate six wide while the stones are laying on their sides. I’ll cut some glass shelves
@danielslatenightsharpening2543 жыл бұрын
@@Garymayo just reaching back out. I recently bought a couple new diamond stones and counted exactly how much I could fit. I can fit 18 or 9 sets of stones. Hope this helps. Have fun!
