Long shot is not ideal for 1.5 oz loads need a slow burn powder

It’s amazing how everyone just discovered longshot powder.
@livingintheprairie151711 сағат бұрын
@Mr.Nippit I've been loading longshot in 3 1/2 for 5 years. And if you shoot alot of geese killers you go though them. But you try to find steel or blue 5 years ago. It was a problem

Rear ended someone today because of how shit the traction is…. Dry pavement and they stopped at an orange light after hesitating and I slammed on my breaks but slid probably 100 feet only going 33 MPH on my 04 Dodge ram 1500

Hi! I subbed! I see you have a good looking healthy plant there! Big pumpkins! I had a flood too, 6 inches of rain in 2 hours, burst all my vines on July 10th. So I’m thankful for the pumpkins I have a I’m going to enjoy them as much as I can. Thank you for watching my video, I make one every day. Keeps me going.🎃🧡🎃

I just picked up a hundred of these CX2000's for $7. Ammo prices yes, have skyrocketed since the pandemic (as has everything). I could understand there being a need to raise prices when the country was in such a horrible condition, but now? When everybody is making money hand over fist? Manufacturers are just milking the customer and getting away with it because we keep paying the ransom. There was a time when emptying a box of 20 cartridges for fun was less than a meal at McDonald's. Now, you could feed a family with what one factory load box costs. I get it that prices always have to rise, but I'm spending more in a week for breakfast & lunch at work than I used to spend for groceries. Then again, in this economy, my salary doubled over what it was just 5 years ago. What I'm saying is, it's all relative. The companies will always be greedy. It's up to us to keep them in check with our purchasing power. For the record, I will ALWAYS pay more gladly for American made products. Thanks for the video. I learned a good deal from it.

Don't know as a fact but like the Chedite primers the size is not the same as American made primers. Fit Rio shells perfectly, I will be interested in what you find.

Have you try 2 3/4" hull before for you waterfowl loads? Im now finally reloading some steel load the one I am doing is from tps load data from ballistic products. 2 3/4" cheddite hull/ primer, 23 gr of longshot powder ( i put 22.8 gr for the first 8 test loads which im planing on going down to 22 gr for the rest of my 192 loads), 2 3/4" tps wads, 1 1/8 oz 492 gr of steel shot ( for the first 8 i use daisy bbs which are b shot .170 mm. I'll be load the rest with 4 or 3 for ducks), fold crimp going at 1250 fps with 10,800 psi with 23 gr of powder at 22 gr it should get the load down to 10,330 psi which should keep the load in safe psi.
@livingintheprairie15173 ай бұрын
Not really, I'm a 3 or 3 1/2 hull for waterfowl. Here in the Prairie the shots are away longer than we like. Not much cover to hide behind. But I do 2 3/4 for doves.

In your opinion, what shot size would you use for all ducks in your 1 1/8 oz load 3 or 4?

For those of us just beginning to look into shotshell reloading, without finding powder & primers locally, IDK if I want to get into it.
@livingintheprairie15174 ай бұрын
No you should get in to it. The beginning is all ways the hardest but when you find the loads you want for hunting what ever it is, everything runs pretty smoothly . I thinking of 20g now.

Ballistic products now has a two loads that you can use with longshot first on is in 2 3/4" cheddite hulls, ched209 primers, 23 gr longshot, 2 3/4" tps wad, 1.125 of steel shot going at 1250 fps with 10,800 psi. Second one is 3" cheddite hulls, ched209 primers, 29 gr of longshot, 3" tps with 1/4" felt wad insert under shot, 1.125 oz of steel shot going at 1350 fps with almost the same psi.
@clks11655 ай бұрын
Do you still use this load to this day? If so, what is your opinion on this load?
@livingintheprairie15175 ай бұрын
Still using it for early duck. It drops them so it works.

The dint on the side of the brass makes me think something got in the chamber like a tiny pebble. Once the brass expanded you get that dint and then the extractor tore the rim trying to pull out the shell that was a bit stuck.
@philipwatzke51986 ай бұрын
Fatigued metal from being resized ,ejector tore through it,they expand thats why we resize them,i have seen a wad in crimp on a warchief hull when he ejected it was only partial hull was torn apart,
@saltcreekammo6 ай бұрын
Could just be a weak hull... I developed a 3" 1.5oz bismuth goose load that I sold the data to a guy on Facebook. Original load called for a new cheddite, he reloaded a once fired Cheddite. His first round out goose hunting seperated the brass case head from the hull body... The load is proof tested and meets 3" SAAMI specs. In the end, you do this long enough and you'll see shit happen.

Different basewad ? Remington makes two or three different thicknesses black,yellow, clear, same hull on outside. Maybe

Our grocery store didn’t have eggs for like month. The store said it was Salmonella. Some youtubers said it was influenza and over 70,000 chickens were killed to stop the virus. I’m definitely aiming towards influenza. Even got a email saying to stay away from sickly looking birds or birds that are acting funny where I hunt here in ca.

I have one of those presses, never have used the crimp stations. Id personally get more use out of the sizemaster if i wanted single stage, or the grabber for progressive. I just dont have a need for loading 3.5" shells and thought maybe i could convert the steelmaster for 2.75" loads, can, but not very easily.

Any of you ever replaced the tires on one of these? If so, what size did you get? As best I can tell, it needs 5 3/4" x 7/8" (5.75" x .875"), but it would be nice to get confirmation of that.

If you reduce the charge back to 25 grains the PSI should drop to about 10700 and the FPS should be about 1150 to 1225.

I have found good loads using Longshot for both 2 3/4 inch1 1/8 oz and 3 inch 1 1/4oz loads. No issues with pressure that I am aware of. Only issue I have heard of with Longshot is that it’s not as forgiving as others powders. Weigh every load or make sure your measuring device is able to throw consistent loads.
