Like anyone who wants to deconstruct. They make things ugly and shocking (and confusing… because confusion is the smokescreen from one who doesn’t want you to immediately see how shallow they are). Beauty and true humor are hard targets to hit. But ugly and shocking are more manageable. With the added confusion you can make it seem like you’re actually doing something more profound. Then, for some, there’s the added benefit of cultural subversion. And who are we kidding? That’s exactly what they want.

Really weird movie. Interesting genre. Absurd beyond description. But watching it, can't help but admire the creativity. Elfman is an amazing talent, love Oingo Boingo. The Princess boobs were a treat....I can only imagine how much fun they had making the film. RHPS was similar, first time I was 'wtf did I just watch'. Then saw it another 50 or so times.

Great actor. He's right about the Man in Black in Lost. He was just a tragic character. He wasn't born bad. He was in an unfortunate situation and he paid a heavy price by being trapped on the island. It's only logical that he would become desperate and vengeful later on and do anything to get off the island.
