Beautiful island! I recall the two 747s involved in a horrific accident at the airport in Tenerife where several hundred people died. I believe it was in the 70s or 80s.

Wondering why this is even a stop for RC! Thank GOD everyone got back in time! I hate to say it was deliberate on their part, but, things like that do happen. I agree that it was not well planned on their part. Them taking pictures and videos of you all is a BIG concern for me. We went through this in Falmouth, Jamaica where the tour guide took us to several supposed "tourist stops", and then tried to drop us off "downtown" so we could, in his words, "have some fun!" We were not at all interested in doing this. Since my husband and I were the only ones on this van, we kept telling them (nicely, but firmly) to take us back to the port. (with little time to spare, we got there) . We only book excursions through RC now.

What a scary time! Did you hear from anyone on the City or River tour from the same company that had similar experiences? Happy Anniversary to you both!
@livingphase210 сағат бұрын
I don’t know how the city tour ended up. The river tour was canceled, which brought some of those to our tour. And as far as the Royal Caribbean city tour, we know that that one ended up OK. It was just extremely, extremely expensive.

As we watch this video, your ship is about 2 weeks away from Miami. WOW how time flew by, such unbelievable and memorable memories you will take home with you. The dreaded part is approaching..yes..having to pack most of the possessions you will take home and deciding what to donate or just discard. Be strong and we will continue to follow your journey no matter how long it will take for you to share with us. With loving thoughts ❤❤❤ lil and John H.

Thank you so much for all your kind words and we have appreciated you following along with us on our journey. Yes, we are dreading the packing. It’s bittersweet as we are. Looking forward to returning home yet. We will miss everyone on the ship.

And that’s why you don’t take these uncleared excursions! Especially in iffy countries like this. Did you tell Royal at least of the name? Your only concern was not getting back in time? You were lucky.

We downloaded WhatsApp for our upcoming trip. Now how do you find these private groups of excursion. We never have figured out how you do it. Please tell us where do you get their names or information. 😊
@livingphase220 сағат бұрын
We use companies, such as Viator, Shore Excursions Group, tours by locals, get your guide, or just do a Google search for a tour of your specific location. At every port, we research all of the above companies and then make our decision from there.

I was in The Peace Corp in Bolivia in the 1990’s. This story reminds me of being there. The concept of time being kind of fluid was the same. I can’t imagine if that culture interacted with rigid schedule of a cruise ship. 😮.

Did the Royal excursions go any better?

Yes, they did. But they were extremely high priced for very little. And none of their excursions were a Safari.

Just a beautiful island 🏝 thanks for sharing. We have those lobsters in Grenada. Those are the caribbean lobsters😂tropical. Pouring the drink on the ground and floor is done in my country for our ancestors. Grenada was one of the islands in the caribbean where the slaves were taken.

Hello Nancy & Mike that was quite an experience you had I'm glad you got back to the ship safely i had a similiar experience many years ago in South Africa apartheid still existed and i was scaried . Royal should have warned everyone one the ship about safety P&O in the old days put a brochure about port conditions our ships use to go around the cape when the Suez canal closed in the 70s. Glad you're safe Love from Sydney
@livingphase220 сағат бұрын
Thanks so much. And there were warnings from Royal that were the standard warnings, protector, belongings, etc., that we hear at every port. We feel it our responsibility to do our own research and we certainly made a mistake taking this trip.
