This is a really good explanation to the knee shield and the problem it presents. Can't wait to try this next class

It seems hard to accept that every single professor has always been spot on and never premature with a belt promotion or read the player wrong. One or two of us have had to slip through the cracks and got by without actually being worthy

Yo, thanks for covering this! I've been trying to piece this together on my own but keep letting them out somehow. This will be playing on repeat for the next few weeks for sure.

Great content as usual. We need to see Marty rolling with some blue belts. He's been a great uke for years. You two seem like good friends.

It is the half guard position that happens most often, especially when you are a beginner. The opponent on top keeps trying to remove the knee. Here in Brazil, we joke about calling this move half-guard suffering. This video helped me a lot, I was looking for what to do when I fall into this position.

It’s funny you say that cause I’m in the same boat, I started 7-8 years ago and use to watch a lot of his videos, my first ever submission in the training room I got from him, it was what he called ‘the amazing’ at the time lol (it’s actually a Tarikoplata from north south Kimura) Great to see he’s still active

We went over this in a no-gi class and I as a white belt am having serious trouble locking in the triangle from this angle without giving myself a very painful calf crusher. Gonna keep working on it.

I'm just here to give kudos to this instruction. I think it's great how you talk through the mechanics, describe safety, talk about how to be a good training partner and emphasize the right level of training intensity to assist in learning. Well done.

I need to practice this escape as I've seen it so many times but I always forget about it when I'm in the situation. I really enjoy your style of teaching and explanation of realistic expectations of the amount of force that can be applied in those positions.
