All supermarkets use the same factories for the same produce, sometimes the recipes are slightly different but usually are exactly the same!

My local butcher makes us tolouse sausages that are amazing in quality, literally 85% quality meat, the rest is basically seasoning. The amount of crap added to the one's you've got makes yer blood boil.. they're rubbish. My local butcher also uses natural casing.

They are both Gluten Free , Waitrose just uses the crossed grain symbol instead of GF. Most good quality sausages are naturally Gluten Free as they are not padded out with Wheat (gluten containing) and other nasties.

Difficult to see on video, but the Waitrose pork did look darker, but I would go on price and Deano's taste test and buy the Aldi. If Lidl, don't do them. LOL.

I did a longer explanation but there must be something in it that YT didnt like cos it has been removed twice. Was it the length maybe? Will split it onto 3 parts 1a 1b and 1c. My money is on these sausages being identical but the inspection regime for Aldi will be less than for Waitrose and Waitrose will most likely from my own research, give the sausages a much shorter shelf life, making the overhead larger for Waitrose than Aldi.
@NikkisNosh
@NikkisNosh 16 сағат бұрын
part 1b: A lot of manufacturers to optimise production costs will program say 100,000 packs of a product, in this case Honey & Mustard Sausages and then hawk the production run to all the supermarkets, so imagine, Waitrose place an order for 80,000 packs and that leaves a 20k pack run off which the manufacturer may even sell at a discount to the original price - Aldi being lean and fast acting, then buy the run off of 20k packs at a price lower than Waitrose paid. Firms like Iceland and Farmfoods use this same Run Off Pricing for their products and in some cases will buy up packs that have been rejected for some reason by the often on-site inspectors from the premium supermarkets, M&S and Waitrose . The difference in pork content 78 v 80% is well within margins of error and the more precise standards Waitrose will use. I also found in my research that Walkers Midshire Foods has been supplying Tesco sausages for over 15 years and produce many of the ‘finest’ range. They also have been supplying Waitrose for some time, though Waitrose also buy a lot (but not this sausage) from Dalehead a subsidiary of the large Tulip Ltd company which is then owned by the large conglomerate, Danish Crown. the world's largest pork exporter and Europe's largest producer of pork. The Danish Crown group is also Europe's largest meat processing company.
@NikkisNosh
@NikkisNosh 16 сағат бұрын
Part 1c: Dalehead even has 5 factories dedicated to ONLY Waitrose branded products, so it is a rare for them to buy the Honey & Mustard from Walkers Midshire Foods. Anyhow, that is my take on the vagaries of who makes what and who owns who for today. My hope is to do more of this stuff on my own channel but as you can appreciate, it takes a heck of a lot of research to do, so will take some time.

1a OK, Well oh well, BOTH packs have the same Traceability code, GB 4827 which is Walkers Midshire Foods, Leicester LE1 2LB so they came from the same factory . Walkers Midshire are part of the conglomerate, Samworth Brothers and they develop their own recipes - their website says they "launched well over 100 new recipes for our customers". The official company name is Walkers Deli & Sausage Co. and thry brag that "Walkers Sausage Co is one of the largest producer of premium sausage in the country." Samworth Brothers is the owners of Ginsters, Soreen, Melton Mowbray Pies and the Sports Nutrition brand, SCI-MX.

@bellend69 16 сағат бұрын
If you check the manufacturer code in the bottom right of each pack you will see that they are both made in the same factory as the code is GB4827. So chance are they are made on the very same line, by the same people using the same ingredients just a slightly different recipe.

Nikki's Comment Part 2: I think you might be imagining a difference. In such comparisons, can I suggest you do a blindfold taste test like I try to do in my reviews. My bet is they are identical OR the run off production had a slight tweak to the flavour mix but the pork mix source is identical for sure since they both came from the same factory. Look at the oval on the pack they both say GB 4827 and all Traceability Codes are Unique to only one company - in this case Walkers Midshire Foods part of Samworth Brothers.

I know you tried to get similar sausages but the Waitrose ones are the sausage equivalent of free range eggs. I imagine that's the reason they tasted meatier. If you care for animal welfare, Waitrose is the better option
