Fantastic. Thank you for sharing so much of how you do what you do. And these works you are doing are exciting! One question? Do any of the acrylics that you use smell? I don't like oils for the reason they smell but recently used some acrylics are reacted negatively to them - and they did smell. They were made in China (but a local Indonesian brand).

Hi, I use an Australian brand called Matisse (company name is Derivan) and it has no odor at all. So I would suggest trying a few different brands to see which one works best for you?

Loved watching this. I also find it interesting how you don't like what I really like and will use as inspiration. I tend to range from greater realism to greater abstract than you do. Also, just sitting beside the Yarra River (wherever you are, Warburton or somewhere else) - ah, tis lovely. We once tented along the Yarra behind the Warburton shops, I think it was, and in a Caravan Park. I did some sketches then, there......many years ago.

I think rocks and water moving is so interesting. One of my favorite things! I have never done it before but you make it look so nice.

I am so jealous that you have these beautiful places to sketch, the streams, the palms, etc. You should take more video of just that and the paintings you create using the footage.

Thanks so much-this was a treat with my morning coffee. I’m taking a painting break for a mo th to draw, so I can appreciate what you’re trying to do. I’m just doing it to jumpstart my painting again. I also REALLY loved the last video where you figured out you had wandered away from your fav colors in plein air sessions 😮 that was a remarkable revelation!!!😅 I’ll watch this again too just for the combination of river noise and painting! 😊 have a good weekend. ❤

Gosh I REALLY like the second sketchbook paintings especially the ones at 6:40, 7:52, 8:01. I’m a beginner artist and I wish I could paint like that! Gorgeous color pallets and strokes!!!! Can you do a tutorial on one of those 3 paintings pls?

Really interesting transformations. I’m amazed at how you worked out what it was you weren’t happy with in those plein aire artworks! I went out monthly with urban sketchers for a year before I realized I just didn’t enjoy it! You gotta try everything though!

Hi Clair, just letting you know that the video froze from 14:09 to 14:43. and then again at 37:35 to 38:02. Also, the same thing happened a couple of times in your last video. Maybe the camera? Anyhow, more important to say, I love your videos and your paintings, and absolutely appreciate you sharing your process and thinking about your art. Thank you +++

Thanks Clair. I am sure you are more qualified than myself but what I do have to say about your plein air colours are that I think they are fine - perhaps though just one stronger/darker value in a compositional hierarchy will resolve your doubts. I love your honesty and generousity and your mark making. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and time with us.

I have grown to prefer used items. The positive energy from previous owners is always a bonus. I’m not even new age believer. But my intuition seems to tap into others. I love your used book.

Hi Clair, Great video as usual. Personally, I find your river rock series some of the best pieces I have seen you do. Fabulous energy and movement, as well as exciting brushwork. I favor the green water with the pops of colorful boulders peeking through. I loved your plein air painting of the river as well. Although you don't favor the subdued colors, the way you handle paint and mark making pulls it all together for a very lively painting. Please experiment periodically with grayed colors. You inspire me!

I think both are equally beautiful (in reference to the two tree paintings). Even tho you think the one on the right is dull, it IS very accurate to our Australian bush colours. Really beautiful.😊
