Are you sure you're okay. Do you need a bandaid for a boo boo? I have never seen or heard so much whining from a grown man. Enjoyed the fishing part, the whining, not so much. GET TOUGH!! TTFU!!

I've Fly fished a few smaller streams in the U.P. and have yet to run into another fisherman. Caught an 18 inch brookie while fishing a small creek right in the center of a town. No jaw or dorsal tag and I'm pretty sure it was a wild one. The locals seem to fish for other species and mostly lake fish. Not a lot of tourists trout fish. Mostly the die hards that have a passion for it and it seems they are fading away. We need to introduce more kids to this great past time. The U.P is a gem for trout fishing and grouse hunting and I've stumbled around up there since I was 18 years old.

Grouse hunted with my dog quite a bit around this river near Ralph, but never tried fly fishing it. Now on the list.

Like many Northwoods and UP streams, it's nearly unfishable because of all the streamside vegetation. I really want to get up there but I'm at a loss to find rivers that one can walk alongside.

As a younger man I used to fish our brushy Wisconsin streams by "bushwacking" in commando-style fishing. It was pretty tough. Plenty of scratches and difficult, slow going. Crawling under, climbing over, shoving through. Hours of trudging for minutes of fishing. Not many folks were willing to do that sort of thing. The results reflected that. Have fun out there!

I have explained myself in a 5 and 7 page article that you can read via these links: www.coppersmithstudios.com/a_slime.html www.coppersmithstudios.com/a_psycho.html These links are in the description of every video. Personally I think those who choose not to take precautions against the environment are somewhat stupid but that is their choice and I don't usually criticize them for that.

Learning so much! What brand of ‘Crawfish Oil’ do you use? Thank You!
@CoppersmithStudios13 күн бұрын
They are all good. My main concern is to find a brand in a small bottle that will fit in my fly fishing vest. If I can't find such a brand then I'll pour some in an empty small bottle of something else.

I had recently started thinking of adding a trailer fly to my spoons and Wham Bam Thank You Coppersmith Studios you have it all sorted out. Went to River yesterday and once I got it dialed in the bite was on!!!! Almost every cast, sometimes 2 fish at a time-though I could never get both in net. Thank you!!! I did switch out all the treble hooks for singles to save the fish some wear and tear and reduce my frustrations.

Dude what navigating app are you using or what maps? You're kind of lucky. Hopefully you let people know where you're going and maybe next time go with someone who knows how to navigate. That's not a freaking trail you are on.
@wylde-lyfe13 күн бұрын
Been down that trail 1/2 dozen times, not that bad compared to other "trails" in the park proper upstream. I noticed you went hiking in waders without any gear to stay a night. Probably no water filter or enough food to stay a day. The place is rugged and not a simple day trip. Glad nothing worse happened.

Yep. I know the feeling. I had a similar close call in the Cloud Peak Wilderness in Wyoming. I hiked from West Tensleep Lake to Misty Moon Lake and back. I didn't get lost but I was limping so badly the wilderness almost won.
@garyrafferty762514 күн бұрын
West and East Tensleep Creeks (above and below their confluence) is where I caught more trout in one day than any other place in Wyoming. Few fish were over 12 inches ... but it was "giddy little boy" fun.

Could one use this technique for steelhead? Maybe with the streamers or egg sucking leech patterns. Cannot use a fly rod anymore, the spinning approach may put one back into the steelie game. Could use 1/8 to 1/4 oz crankbaits , #3 spinner with streamer, size 2 wooly buggers, Zonker and etc. Also being that steelies are susceptible spoons a big fly behind the spoon could be kick butt. What do you think?
@CoppersmithStudios117 күн бұрын
I think this technique would work very well for steelhead.

I love that whole area and most of all the Au Sable. Just walk up to the river and you can see trout. I was in the National Guard and spent almost 24 summers there. Alot of my time was spent around Lewiston on the north range. You could walk up to any little lake and the fish would come up to the shore like feeding time at the aquarium.
