I don’t understand this Hogwarts layout. There are two astronomy towers (one facing towards the back like in HP 1 & 2, and the other facing forward like in the rest of HPs), the bridge from HP 7 which replaced the bridge connecting the library to the main courtyard which was in HP 1-6 (either one is fine but not both)

So glad to see you uploading again Mr. Wells. I hope you can paint an army based on either your favorite characters or your favorite stands from Jojo's bizarre adventure.. I feel like that painting challenge would be right up your alley

It’s so weird rediscovering this channel after becoming a war gamer, I first learned about it from your daughters channel when you guys watched jojo’s. And Several years later I find you again because of 40k. It’s odd how small the internet can be sometimes.

Great video, I just discovered you today and loving the content! I’m waaay younger than you, and have only been in the hobby for a few years, but I’ve definitely experienced hobby burnout: whether it’s been thru depression, stress or other life things getting in the way. But miniatures have been something I’ve been able to fall back and return to time and time again. I’m currently in an upswing from 2 factors: finally cleared out space in my garage so I can have a dedicated spot to build and paint, and the Hero Quest board game revival. Been running the game with my friends group and playing the game solo via the app and it’s gotten me excited to wanna paint them up.

Well done on figuring the problem out. I guess you learned the hard way that one of the most important things to learn about model railways is *patience* . You have to let things dry and set *completely* before you rush into the next thing. Your original loco is probably salvageable too... probably just needs taken apart and cleaned.
@robisonwells1
@robisonwells1 Жыл бұрын
Yes, very much so. I'm impatient and impulsive, but hopefully this will help cure me of that. As for the clogged locomotive, I don't have the knowledge to clean it so I'm heading into the train store to see if someone can teach me.

@@robisonwells1 That's a good plan, but also remember that KZfaq is your friend my dude. There are many great model railway channels on both sides of the Atlantic that can help you with this (and other) stuff. Sam's Trains and Chadwick Model Railway are two that stick out - especially when dealing with "problematic" locomotives! Good luck! What sounds like has happened is that it's picked up some ballast with half-dried glue on it, and now it's dried inside the locomotive somewhere. It will be a PITA to clean, but should still be doable. Ballast typically takes 3-4 days to fully dry if you're using watered down PVA.
@wargameexplorer

Very true. KZfaq has helped me with a lot of this so far. I've watched some of Chadwick, but haven't seen Sam's Trains. I'll look it up. Thanks!

Yeah, but it's a problem with the trucks. It keeps derailing and it's making a grinding sound. I've tried everything I can to clean it but I'm not finding the problem.

Excellent project! I, too, am a wargamer who is interested in model railroading. I don’t have any investment in the railroad side of things yet. My biggest hang up had always been figuring out what kind of layout I want to do. I’ve gotten excited about a freelance logging line, as that has a lot of possibility with the space I have available to build it in. Looking forward to seeing your updates!

Uh, one problem. That loop on the left side doubles back on itself. If the whole thing is not reverse track capable, it will short out and nothing will run. Now there are gadgets that can alleviate this conundrum but be careful with what track that you get. Same thing applies on the big loop. Also be careful of your grades. N scale is very unforgiving and can slip if the grade is too steep.

I, myself, am a wargamer who does commissions but I had my start in model railroading when I was 6 but nothing permanent; o scale. My dad in 1998 started Fischer's Creations and we ran that til 2003 and then again 2012-2020 when he passed away. I am super busy with commissions but I plan to take what we have still in boxes and laying around to make into 28/32mm buildings but up to my dads level of detail. One day. Also I have to finish our HO scale layout that we started to build.

Ironically I have followed the same path. I have a large collection of miniatures (still need painting), and tons of locomotives and rolling stock. Had a friend who owned a hobby shop and purchased a lot relatively inexpensive many years ago. My hope too is to build a new layout and continue my FRPG interest as well. And freelance is my goal. I could never do prototypical.

You should have some Space Marines having a picnic somewhere on the train set. Oh, and definitely cut up the base for future movement, plus it'll make it easier to work on too.

You might want to cut your base into a few sections if in the possible future you might have to move or if you want to upgrade your desk or even if you want to move your desk.

The only problem I see is that your reversing loop is small which will limit the length of your train, it also poses wiring issues, I would have my return track run parallel to each other you can then run and just watch your trains
