I knew this book in the 90's, a friend of mine bought it in a trip to the US. 5 years ago, with internet, I got one of this too,as well as many others by Roger Dean for Paper Tiger. A wonderful book.

If you don't agree with the way the pencils are layed out, then you shouldn't buy that brand. You should buy the brand philosophy that closely suits your colour philosophy. You paid the professionals to give you an expert layout. Now you're wasting your time and money redoing the job that you requested and paid for. So stop rejecting the work of the highly educated people and buy something else that you're suited to and are happy with.

You mentioned some watercolour paper, but no more info. Like it's weight, cotton content, texture. The sound is terrible. It seems you move away from the microphone so it sounds like you are talking to yourself not an unknown unseen audience. The images on the paper samples are of little ir no value to the audience. I'd say if you want to do this, try again with someone in the room who is experienced in producing videos. The topic is something that people want to know about. A pity really, because your effort has not paid off this time. It has however, served as a practice run for next time.

Dungeons and Dragons and many of the other RPGs have amazing art in their gamebooks and other materials, and some of the artists, like Brom, are included in a number of books on SF and Fantasy art.

As a very long time D&D player, I would caveat that sometimes the art is beautiful in those books and sometimes it's ludicrously beginner level :). It does get better as the years go on and people take it more seriously.

These older art books are like stepping into the artist’s studio, their own style & techniques. I enjoy that presentation. I have a couple of books like that. Along with more realistic art styles. But I appreciate them all.
@lisasheaartistАй бұрын
I agree that there's great value in these older art books. In many cases these artists have passed away, so there's no opportunity to see modern videos of them in action. Following along with their written instructions in books is the best we can do to get insight into their technique.

what about adding water using asyringe to the tube and keeping it up for 2 days

The problem is that, adding drops into the mouth, the tiny circle the water is going to touch is barely going to impact any paint at all. The water can't easily "wriggle down" into the rest of the tube.

The books really had the BEST covers. It's a shame sometimes to see what covers have become in modern times - often it's just the title in giant letters and a vague indication of something in the background. I suppose the same could be said about record albums though ...

@@lisasheaartist I don't think that's happening to record albums but take, for example, author Alan Dean Foster's Flinx and Pip series, the new reissues of those are absolutely horrendous.

Thank you for your thoughts! I have familial tremors which slowly get worse over time. I used to do origami videos, ten years back, and I've mostly given up on doing those. Researchers now have an electronic wristband out which supposedly helps a bit with it - I am looking into that. I should also do a video or two on the challenges artists with tremors face, and ideas for how to mitigate them.

I have a set of 72 coming tomorrow. I snagged it off eBay marketplace. I don’t like using prismacolors but it was going for a good price and it’s new and unused. I maybe should work more to master them. I find they are too soft for me and thus hard to control. The tin of my set looks older and I think two discontinued colors are included. Lilac and violet? Don’t remember the names exactly.
@lisasheaartist4 ай бұрын
It's neat that you have discontinued colors. Or is that just going to annoy you? What if you fall in love with one of the colors and then you can't use it any more? :)
@twingytwango69714 ай бұрын
@@lisasheaartist Uhhmmmm pondering, but I found a lilac in an almost same colour in Derwent Artists. If a colour isn’t available anymore, some other brand might have it. FC also discontinued their lilac but it still turns up now and again on a marketplace. Someone on our marketplace was looking for those 2 discontinued colours and I was about to offer mine to them but then the ad was removed so I couldn’t contact her anymore. No, I don’t get myself worked up over colours. It’s either there or isn’t. I’ll make peace with the situation.
