They struggle to deliver current to the woofers at high volume due their high resistance, this affects the sound. The low capacitance and high inductance affects the timing of music different to other cables and the lack of shielding results in some rmi entering the cable. I very much enjoyed the sound these cables produced, but by no means whatsoever do they sound the same as all other cables. Do some homework next time bud before you start spouting nonsense in the comment section.

😆👍🏻 How’s it going! Yeah still in love 😂 Nah not really, the only thing isn’t the speakers really it’s my room, its not quite big enough 😩 I moved them onto the long wall the other week and whilst I had major bass issues my goodness that extra distance to the sidewalls did magical things to the sound. It was a taste of what the speakers are capable of if the room was bigger. What have you got in atm?

@@russellparker4568 yeah, I hear you on that. I have my speakers on the long wall, too, and in my room bass is also a problem, but the width (and depth) to the sound field is great along the long wall. I'm still running the same goods these days... Haven't taken a punt on anything different of late. (still primarily rotating the Royd Minstrel SEs, ADS L730s, and Epos ES14s, but I also still have the Rega Ela Mk 1.25's and standard Minstrels that I occasionally pull out of the closet). Yeah I did actually. I had chord shawline x in before, silver plated multi strand copper 1.3mm2, insulated and screened. The TQ blue diamond came terminated so not sure about their construction other than the conductors are thicker and spaced about 40mm apart. I’ve read in forums that they use different sized multi strand to aid in frequency transfer. Anyway, The chords are a bit bright, sort of neutral sounding, tight bass, soundstage is wide but not particularly deep. They sound decent but not that musical, there seems to be an emphasis on the midrange somewhere too which causes a bit of glare/shout if thats the right way to describe it. The TQ blue diamond are warm and rich sounding, HF is smoother, bass is stronger but more rounded off. They sound veiled upon first listen coming straight off the chords but shortly after you hear that they are actually delivering more details. Details that create the decay of sound, small textures etc. The sound stage is considerably deeper, this could be due to the better detail 🤷🏻‍♂️. They also present the music in a more fluid/organic way, it’s hard to describe, the sound almost sounds slower, like it’s not rushing to deliver the music but taking its time to give you more of the music without skimming over details. It’s probably the effect of smoother HF, more detail, richer harmonics and better space in the soundstage. So the answer to your question is yes 😆 they do sound quite different to anything I’ve owned. The closest thing to the TQ’s sound was a set of DNM style solid core cables (cyrus) which in comparison had lighter tighter bass and not as warm sounding, but they had the same musical flow and timing. Coincidentally they were a similar construction with wide spacing between conductors.
@Chris-nd5se

@Chris-nd5se yeah it’s like they are the little brother of the TQ’s in a way. Have you tried the DNM cables? I think everyone should try a pair of DNM’s at some point, they come up for about £60-£70 for a 3m pair and always sell easily if you decide to let them go.

@@russellparker4568 Thanks for the recommendation. I know DNM Reson cables were recommended to me once by Hifi World magazine, but no unfortunately I did not try them. Hey! A bit off topic, but I saw you discussing the new Rubikore line on another video and I didn't know if you were going to see my comment there. Since you've already heard many Dali speakers, could you please tell me which would have a better sound (bass included, but also value for money) between the Rubicon 2, Rubikore 2, Rubicon 6, Rubikore 6 and Epicon 2? Thank you. There is no way to do a listening test where I live and I don't want to pay for diminishing returns, that's why I also added the bookshelf speakers to the list above. Again, thank you for you time.

Hello! Yes I did see the comment 👍🏻 Although I’ve not heard the Epicon 2’s or the Rubikore 2’s I do know someone who uses the Epicon 2’s with a pretty tasty front end including denefrips venus, ps audio air lens and a rogue hybrid integrated. He takes sound very seriously and rates them highly, not sure if that helps. I also know Tarun (a brittish audiophile) youtuber. He rated the Epicon too in his review. The rubicon 2/6 are lively speakers. They have a touch more treble energy than most speakers, the 6 obviously have more bass and authority. The rubikore 6 just didn’t do it for me though, a bit pipe and slippers, I suppose they are a safe buy that could be bland to some people and perfect to others. It’s a funny one really, I wouldn’t like to recommend any of them if I’m honest, not because I think any of them are bad but because you might have a different preference/opinion to me 😄. Also Your room, partnering equipment, music tastes, expectations and budget will all play a factor. It’s a fair bit of money to spend without an audition and from one enthusiast to another, I think thats a mistake. Sorry to be of not much help, good luck with your search for a speaker.

Hilarious. Thin cables have high resistance. You could use 18 gauge wire from Home Depot and get the same sound. Or just put a resistor in series with your other cables. High resistance will cause reduce the damping of the woofer, causing a peak in the response of the bass and it will decrease the mid band less than the high impedance top end of the tweeter. So yeah, it will sound different. Just buy an equalizer.

These cables have been designed with a wide spacing in between conductors to achieve a very low capacitance and higher inductance, they suit the early exposure pre power I’m using which calls for this type of specced cable.

Oh most definitely staying. I was the same as you, each speaker had its own strength, then the proacs arrived and blew everything into the sky. The proacs are beasts sheer control and authority they have over the music is awesome. They are fast, transparent, very detailed but not fatiguing, its an open window into the music for sure. The exposure pre power does play a part in this too, ive made a few changes in the front end with the proacs in and i could hear every change easily which has got me excited for future amp/dac upgrades. Yeah the response 3’s are a complete speaker, the only complaint i have is i wish my room was 4ft wider. Id highly recommend trying some proacs if you can get some, skip the studio line and go straight to response. I know a few people who have 1sc’s and love them, one person with db1’s with sugden - loves them, someone with ETB’s - owned for 25 years and loves them and a friend who just got the d18’s - same again.

Just punch golden ratio speaker placement formula in google and it will take you to one of a few websites that will give you the formula to use for the dimensions of your room 👍🏻

@@yourtypebeat Theres not really an instruction video about on youtube, it’s just a simple formula that you can find online that uses your room dimensions. 👍🏻

I have this amplifier, let me say firstly it is as ugly as sin . Get past that and you have a fantastic bit of kit, the sound quality is exceptional, bass,mids,treble are just on point, add to that a very well implemented dac and streamer . Plus lots of goodies. I know some folk who have sold this amp and regretted it . For me it's a keeper.. ( why look at the mantle piece when you're poking the fire)

Nice! I think arcam have done a great job improving the appearance with the new range, it was definitely needed coming of the SA range. I quite liked the sound of this amp, it does have a sound though. I sold it in the end as the firmware for the streamer was giving me all kinds of issues and i wanted a sound that was a bit more expressive.

@@russellparker4568 The best amplifier for the money and fabulous sound is the Astin Trew AT2-2100 this amp has flown under the radar it's awesome, and selling for just over 1k .. Transistor based if you like tube sound with plenty of power, it's a no brainer .

If you want an all in one and can live with the looks its quite good. All the included features make it excellent value but beware it’s got network connectivity issues with google home and a other buggy things like volume suddenly going up or down for no reason, this happened even after the latest firmware update when I owned it. In fact theres a arcam sa30 owners group forum online which has members posting issues on a weekly basis last time i checked. Luckily the sound is really good, not the most exciting or expressive amp but still decent, power for days and nice at low volume. The chap above mentioned that many people regret selling the SA30, I don’t regret it at all. My current exposure pre power trounces it and has no silly issues. All in ones are tidy but I really like being able to tweak the sound to my liking with cables and separates. I’ve also learned I’m not one for digital displays and the like, I’d almost always turn it off.

Ahh I didn’t know the SA30 had issues. I’m also not a big fan of like all in one either. The new A35 when it’s release later this year is like $3500 though but it looks so nice.

So did you only swap the capicitors or do you have a schematic drawing and values for the cores used in this cross over. I have a pair of these speakers and i think the capicitors used are ready to be replaced. Just don't know why 3 are used in parallel. Will replace those with one only.

I studied the crossover layout and ended up drawing it out. From memory the 3 caps in parallel were something like 2 x 22uf electrolytic and a 220uf? It’s just to make up the total value. I stuck with electrolytic here. The 2 film caps on the crossover (square ones) were the ones i swapped to jantzen, i don’t have these anymore unfortunately.
