It’s the only damn Pokémon games where you can get 16 badges, it was revolutionary for the time and they shoved all of that into a Gameboy Color cartridge. Gen 2 is amazing and always will be to the people like me that grew up playing it.

Not sure if it was mentioned, since I don’t want to read all the comments, but Weedle line being uncatchable is also in line with the anime since Ash failed a Weedle capture. It was a subtle call back to the anime albeit kind of random.

As someone who got into 1st gen via Pokemon Yellow through my older cousin‘s Gameboy in the 2010s that was my impression of early Kanto too after I was done with Black and White 1. Someone already had pointed out that the lack of a postgame likely stems from the fact that this used to be a fresh new IP at the time where they had no idea that the franchise would blow up this much, a bit like Splatoon 1, where Multiplayer was also the only form of Postgame that the game had but still - Cerulean Cave is the only place in my eyes that doesn’t feel so desolate like the rest of EVERY Kanto city, just because that area was very much the only form of post game it had, with its Mewtu and all that used to stand at the top of Gen 1 tierlists power-wise. Well, at least you had glitches to keep the fun going, am I right?

I never thought of it like this but after you defeat the Gym Leaders and defeat the Pokémon league if you didn’t have the trading wire and couldn’t be bothered to buy one then you saw no reason to return to the game leaving their world and everyone in it trapped in a void no one can escape, not to mention your character who has enough sentience for Pokémon battles but can’t talk is the only intelligent person in the Pokémon world everyone else has just been turned into zombies with the same constant dialogue.

If you like the rare candy and master ball glitch then you'll be a red and blue fan. Yellow had 4 starters, team rocket and cooler sprites so that's why I prefer Yellow even though I grew up with Red.
