If you use that sve small cylinder reservoir from LMR it’s not a good option as it’s not big enough! It doesn’t let the coolant expand as much as it would in the factory reservoir. I kept my factory reservoir with contour fans, but I have it bolted to the passenger side frame rail no issues it never leaks you might want to try this if you have a tiny reservoir. Hope you get it all sorted out brother 🤟🏼🦊
@BMF_Garage7 күн бұрын
Haven’t had any issues with expansion as of yet. Just not keeping temps down. Haven’t tested that with the new radiator though. Factory style replacement radiators and contour fans aren’t up to the task. Had that long ago. Griffin made me a custom radiator and they rate them based off NA horsepower. Factory style radiators can handle factory style hp. When you make 6-700na, you have to have a pretty badass radiator to handle it.

Betcha can’t eat just one 😛. Venting crankcase pressure through the manifold port should help with the oil drain back through the provided return holes in the heads. There are oil separators available for blown applications that use a PCV system but it’s probably not adequate for your extreme application. Good job on the puke tank welds. You built it to meet your specific requirements and just think of all the money you saved compared to buying a fully assembled aftermarket tank When you finish the task of exorcising all the little demons that you’re plagued with….BMF WINS 🏆.

Holy crap. What a drag. I just put together an older 350 with a carb. After first startup, it started backfiring. Took off the right side valve cover to discover most of the rocker arm nuts were lose. 3 of the set screws were off and 1 rocker was almost off its post. 1 pushrod went inside the oil valley. My help says they took apart the chinese made roller lifters and cleaned them. So i redid all the preloads and started it again. Same thing. I think he lied about the cleaning of the lifters. That or they are sticking. What do you think. And did you fix your issue with the broken link?

@@BMF_Garage this is my 1st attempt at assembling a performance engine. I got these Chinese roller lifters for cheap. When I tried to take them apart, you can't take them apart. The rivet holding the connecting bar is in the way. A machinist ordered a Melling Cam(MC22398), and they require $750 worth of SPECIAL lifters. Just because you bought a high dollar rifle doesnt mean your going to get the prize elk. Right. The only thing special about their lifters is the Christmas party that I'll fund. Im going to try the Chinese ones. IF, I can get them to work. 5 or 6 of them did not plunge until I put them in the press. I sunk those 5 or 6 about .100. Then they seemed to bottom out. Tonight I'm just going to spin the engine to observe the valve train. Make sure there's no kunfu happening. Then I'll start it with the covers off. Wish me luck man. Im gonna need it.

In 2003, I got to do flying laps on this track in my 1988 Mazda 323 hatch. I noticed the track on the way back from Denver to Laramie, and there were motorcycles running on it. I doubled back and pulled into the paddock, asked if they ever ran open track days or autocross events. The riders (who had rented the track for the day) said, "if you have cash, you can run right now." I remember I could run up the front "straight," through the kink, and if I got way out to the left first, I could make the right under the bridge without lifting by just clipping the inside edge then letting it drift back to the outside on the downhill exit. It was tough to keep speed through the infield hairpin in a front wheel driver. On the back straight, I'd hit right about 70 before getting hard on the brakes down through the esses to the double right-handers. There was a concrete wall on the outside. Taking turns running 15 minute lap sessions, I got maybe 5 sessions in before my poor abused little Mazda started getting low on oil, and we had to leave. Sad to see the place basically a ruin today. But I will always remember that day clearly.

Brother, you have paid your dues in money and frustration. You don’t owe any explanations or have to make excuses for your current situation. All parts break sooner or later. Well maybe not those rods. You hammered them all those years in multiple engines so you got more than what you paid for…so to speak. If they were 6” long with Cleveland size big ends, I could buy them to help you pay for a new set. If you want Callie’s rods just mortgage the farm and rob a couple of liquor stores to make it happen. The most amazing part of it all is how you still have a pleasant demeanor and a smile despite the unpleasant bullshit dumped upon your BMF ride !
