Roger Linn told me directly that the Live 2 sounds way better than a 60, 2k, or 3k. He doesn't love Akai obviously but he's not going to lie. He said those old converters are indeed inferior & created loss in music data, most notably the high end sonics. He used what was available at the time. He knew it was a bottleneck way back then. What ppl are hearing is a forced "compression." He said he believes if anybody prefers tht sound its because of nostalgia & the feeling of being taken to a happy place in ur brain. He said if he ran a source through a 60 & ran the 60's outs into a Live they would be identical to just using a 60. He said nobody would hear a difference. However, u cant run the outs of a Live into a 60 w/o losing quality/sonics. That's the real answer, that's the truth like it or not. If u prefer the vintage sound it's because it reminds u of either beats u made or beats u loved by others in ur past. Ur CONNECTED to tht sound. U also may just prefer the forced compression happening. That's valid. That's what it all boils down to. U can put in some work to eq, compress, bit reduce etc. to get the vintage sound out of a new MP. That's because it's converters are capable of those frequencies & beyond. I'm not saying Akai is beyond reproach. I'm saying that Akai's ethics don't change the current or past specs of these devices. Ofc they're out to make money. They share internal parts across the line as much as possible. Why would they go source older, no longer produced, rare components? Tht would cost a ton more. It would require board & likely even body changes to the machine. That sounds like a nightmare. All for ppl to complain about 10 or 12 bit sampling! That's madness. That's why certain preamps can go for 10-20k. The components are rare. It's okay to prefer the vintage sound. It's not okay to say new MP's sound like garbage because that is factually incorrect. Don't want to alter ur audio to get tht old sound? Then buy ur fav sounding MP & use it. Is it too slow/outdated? Use it to feed a new MP sounds. Does it cost too much to buy a vintage? Well tough luck, edit ur sounds or save ur $

is 8GB RAM memory in imac m3 good enough?

@@arqhiz I guess it would depend on what you are using it for, but 8GB should be ok for most situations. You may run into performance issues with the heavier stuff, but most companies have done a great job of keeping the DSP relatively low. That said, my old 2007 iMac still runs Logic 8 and most plugins without issue, and that is barely 4GB. I only sprung for the 24GB because I am using it as my primary for music production, and don't want to run into any issues, in the future. I could probably run everything that I have on 16GB, and 8GB would likely be acceptable for about 70% of everything I am currently working on. It will certainly perform better than a PC

seriously , its compacy and delivers in term on possibilities and sound... i think its an interesting instrument. I know minifreak has been ther for a while, but i wonder,wander and hesistate a lot to buy , theres competition in this price range now. Your demo , my friend, might accelerate my decision making

There is so much to do, once you begin to combine these features, it really stands out. I really enjoyed this session

@@Nenko_Music Yeah, the black is really nice. As dirty as the keys may get, you cannot see it in a lot of lighting situations, so it's a none issue. I'm going to have to decorate mine when I get home, haha. Painting the keys seems totally reasonable 😆

@@JDSoundsets Definitely. It seems like every other time I play the MiniFreak, I am demoing through presets or briefly playing outside. This session felt a bit more intimate, where I got to do a bit more exploration. I am really loving this synth

Thinking as if there's still some time is one of my biggest regrets. We came to visit my grandmother in the hospital as she was feeling unwell and got there. When Me and my mom were already about to leave the ward, she abruptly stood up despite her illness and ran up to hug us. She suddenly became so energetic, as if she had become younger again. I calmed Her down being blind in my confidence that there was still time and it wasn't that serious so she would recover anyway. Only later I had a chance to know She understood everything... It was our last hug. 😑 Will see you in the stars... 💜

So as someone who’s thinking about getting the Fantom 7EX, have they fixed the Polyphony Issue?

@@JohnAReese It appears they have not. While there is an improvement since the last update, there are still polyphony issues that get in the way. However, I have yet to experience the "new" EX hardware in action to verify the differences. Knowing Roland, I seriously doubt there is any difference, other than that EX logo and the EX update being installed upon purchase. This whole move is so they don't have to address issues with the Fantom in any meaningful way, buying themselves some time until their next one. With how they have handled this, there is no telling what disappointment awaits, if you invest in their flagship. I really hate to complain, but I also don't like to see other people experience what I have gone through, with this keyboard. Judging by their latest press release, it appears that Roland's focus is elsewhere. Their WC-1 dongle isn't even compatible with the Fantom, after all these years, but it works with the newer Jupiter and Juno models. If Roland Cloud has been their focus and AI is their future, it is doubtful they will resolve these issues with their hardware any time soon.

A lot of people dont believe …. ( i hope they believe now) Roland forgot to finish this keyboard. Have you listen to the brass Sounds?? And guitars? OMG Even thee medeli AKX 10 sounds better. I advise everybody to keep their FA or Roland Fantom X or Fantom G ( the last known good configuration of Roland flagships . OMG What happend wint Roland. In bought this Fantom 6 Twice …. I sold it twice? If only for MainStage...? you can buy it....

@@seriocoster Yeah, it is pretty sad...especially now that they have essentially taken all of their unsold Fantoms, updated them to the EX Upgrade, then reintroduced it to the market as something new...still with these same issues. I mentioned during our last livestream how the n/zyme makes up for half of the EX, and that was introduced more than 2 years ago. Roland's WC-1 adapter isn't even compatible with their flagship. That, to me, is completely insane...just like their outright refusal to add the most requested feature from the previous Fantom's...time stretching. The sounds may have improved, but there is nothing new in the EX, and still the same issues with the hardware. The Fantom has been Roland's biggest blunder, and their reputation is forever tarnished, as a result. Roland didn't even mention their flagship on the 50th Anniversary...what does that tell you?

@@VIRALBEATS360 I think they realize it now. I think.they went to really play this thing and discovered themselves what we are saying here. You know what they did way more better than the NEW FANTOM ?? The Roland GO KEYS 5 and GO KEYS 3 ...... The sounds have 💯 % more life than the sounds on the Fantom. I bought 2 Go Keys... Not 1 No I bought 2 I wish they had put the Go Keys sounds and feeling in the Fantom. The strings The Brass Etc. Even the Guitars sounds better on the Go Keys. In the end is about the sounds ( characteristics, inspiration , feeling, brightness, intelligence, Velocity, aftertouch, Intelligent polyphony) All missing on some crucial.sounds on the fantom. If they had put the sounds of the old Roland fantom G in the Fantom O or the FANTOM I would buy it three times

Very impressive! I need your help I have a RD2000 and I mostly play piano but also love the Synthesizers a lot. I am getting a Roland Fantom8 for $2700 dolar, it’s display piece but condition is like brand new store is also providing a complete warranty. Piano sounds and key action is the same on Fantom8 like a RD2000 in fact Fantom8 key action has key after touch. Frankly speaking I love pianos/Ep and pads on Fantom8 but other acoustic sounds are not so impressive so little confusion. If I will spend $199 then it can become a Fantom8-EX which has even better piano sounds plus there are some Synthesizers is including in that upgrade. Should I go with Fantom8? I have also seen there’s some polyphony issues when we do layers but that’s ok for me. Price is very attractive but still confusion in my mind. If in case I will for with Fantom8 then I will sell my RD2000. Let me know what do you advise. Thank you! ❤
