Carl Bakkum said it so fine...you know when you see a Norwegian...ofcourse he got the picture...Erik Bye a big fellow...a big celebrity he was.

This was a wonderful insight into replanted Norwegian rural lifestyle, yeah, cant imagine living too far from mountans hillls and valleys... So heartwarming. Though I was a bit surprised Erik Bye didnt understand the word "pøik" (pjokk)... Jaja.

In Scotland they called the small tenant farmers crofters. Much the same as «husmenn» in Norway.

My great, great great Grandfather (Anders Engebretson) bought 80 acres on March 10 1868from Peder A and Olea Oslie. He combined it with 14 acres that he already owned. The land became the Village of Coon Valley and eventually housed the the Coon Valley grade school. His daughter and her husband bought land just outside of the village and build what they named the Karlanna farm. The farm remained in our family until about 1979, when my grandfather Nels Neprud passed away.

great old Norwegian names. Norwegians most are very proud of the Norwegian immigrants made it over there. Norway was starving to death..mits awful how people suffered back in the days. Now we're so rich we give money away..m

A couple of misunderstandings in the English translation. "Småbruker" is not a householder but one having a small farm. Sometimes owned, sometimes as a sort of tenant.. "Klokker" is not a watchmaker but sexton. Sometimes in Norway called a church singer.

Jeg elsker Daffa og Werner. Werner er så rå med sine gags. -------- - Kjøpte meg en hund igår. Gjett åssen en hund jeg kjøpte 'a. - En løshund? - Du er ikke riktig kjapp 'a, Daffa. Narkohund, ikke sant? -------- - Du, Daffa? Gjett hva jeg spiste igår 'a? (Werner puster ut mot Daffa, og Daffa lukter etter pusten) - Lukter ingen ting. - Spiste ingen ting. -------- - Hva er du driver med? - Jeg kom nesten ikke opp, jeg. Du er altfor høy.
