Much thanks for the post, Alan. The Avalon Airshow holds a special place for me as I'd always go to it with my old man and his mate. Listening to those guys talk about the roar of the Merlin engines flying overhead after the war when they were kids was always great, they said it gave them a feeling of safety and I swear the two of them had lumps in their throats when those engines started up. This exhibition, in particular, I remember well. My father and I watched in awe, both at the amazing maneuvers you see here and also that the world was in a place where a Russian fighter jet could perform a display at an Australian airshow. The world has changed a bit since then and my dad is no longer around to go with me to the airshows, but watching this video brought back some great memories and gave my eyeballs some welcome lubrication. Thanks again

A pity they haven`t factored in a cross section on the main station for when freight train breakdowns bring regular rail to a holt . At least it would allow a suitable change to keep services on going until the freight train saga is resolved.

If you can afford buying vacant land near by then buy some. The car park area they have allowed is way to small for a major 24 hour airport. Car spaces will be in big demand.

Whilst it looks spectacular, we are concerned that in an $80M+ project, the pool water treatment plant was not designed to the industry standard! We have this on good intel in the industry. The risk is that not before long, the pool water quality at this facility will not meet State Health Department guidelines, and it will be cost prohibitive to mitigate the risk. Sadly, we see this occurring across Australia, where decisions are being made to lower construction costs (within 3yr electoral cycles) in disregard of lifetime economic operating costs of 50+ year facilities. Healthy Pool Water manages the National Performance Report for Australia's public aquatic facilities to ensure the Health and Safety of users, and to encourage owners and operators to optimise the lifetime operating costs of new facilities. nb. we will be visiting Parramatta to inspect the facility and run our own water quality tests.

I'm an Australian who studied IR at Deakin, and who went to Ukraine before the US meddled in that country and ruined it for everybody. I'm sorry to see a random commentator worried for Russians here. They are not as worried for themselves as you might imagine. They are on the right side of history in their view. And willingly die for their country. While Ukrainians are pressganged into service by NATO enabled fascists. Happy to back that up with evidence. I know our media hasn't exactly provided a view of this war that might reflect the facts I'm pushing on you.

Wow. I can't believe the construction progress of WSI Airport (Sydney's second and mega world class airport) is getting good. If it's done, I wish there will be longer flights to Europe, the Eastern US and Eastern Canada. I'm from Metro Manila and we have not one, but two new mega world class airports being constructed and expected to be finished in the same decade as the time WSI is complete. I know that Manila and Sydney only have one airport and both NAIA (MNL) and SYD Airport are large mid-class airports in my opinion and have long distance flights ranging to the Middle East and to North America. Maybe, the new airports in both locations will link Europe and more destinations in Canada and the US.

@@alanhumphreys speaking of long flights, both NAIA and SYD Airport have North American flights to Los Angeles (LAX), San Francisco (SFO) and Vancouver (YVR), but the difference of North American flights is that NAIA have flights to Toronto-Pearson (YYZ) and New York City-JFK while SYD Airport have flights to Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) and Houston-Bush (IAH). In the Middle East, SYD Airport only have flights to Dubai (DXB), Abu Dhabi (AUH) and Doha (DOH), but surprisingly, the only African flight of SYD Airport is to Johannesburg-O.R. Tambo (JNB). NAIA have more Middle Eastern flights than SYD Airport has, but also links DXB, AUH and DOH, but the difference is that it links Muscat (MCT), Bahrain (BAH), Kuwait (KWI), Dammam-King Fahd (DMM) aka the world's largest airport by area, Riyadh-King Khaled (RUH), Jeddah-King Abdulaziz (JED) and Istanbul (IST) the only European airport linked by NAIA.
