This album with Les McCann knocked me straight out, baby! 1969 seminal jazz album 'live' in Montreux.

🎶 Les McCann & Eddie Harris put out a seminal album in 1969 called Swiss Movement, recorded 'live' at the Montreux Festival. Just so suh-weet! A Grammy for Best Jazz Performance small group, it reached #1 on Billboard's Jazz charts, #2 on the R&B chart, & #29 on the LP chart.🎶 (remember when LPs were the only way to fly!?) kzfaq.info/get/bejne/laeXopuVtZrKdnU.htmlsi=FcxjmAifTNMi3Vd

Give it up for Eddie Harris , right here sounds like hes plugged into one of those early envelope filters . During the Swiss movement time period he improv'ed the "listen here" tune in through an echo-plex 💯% ❤

the casual, absolutely careless excellence is sublime...it just radiates off of them. and if i'm not mistaken this was a pick up band. love how you can kinda hear up les singing along with his playing as eddie leans on the piano

Ya kidding me? It wouldn't have killed them if they could've played that 2nd or 3rd verse Eddie Harris 'hard bop sax groove that he did ?

I've liked jazz, in particular the sax, for many years but never stumbled across Eddie Harris. I have the Beastie Boys to thank for that..."Plug me in just like I was Eddie Harris, you're eating crazy cheese like you think I am from Paris" from their song "So what'cha want?". Then I Google Eddie Harris and voila I am now introduced to an awesome sax player I'd never heard of. Better to be lucky than good sometimes. And to find a gem like Eddie, its freaking beautiful.

That beggining rhythm pattern is pretty 'get ready ish', and he plays the melody of Aquarius isnt it. Nice groovy performance.
'Comment' (written by Charles Wright and Yusuf Rahman), as sung by Les McCann on Live at Montreux, changed my life, and me, forever.
