I am a Food Scientist. I have worked in the food industry for 50 years. Blood has been removed from beef as part of the slaughtering process. There is no blood left in commercially available beef. The "red" liquid you see when you open the package is actually pigment called myoglobin (sp?). Ditto the pink color in rare beef. Has absolutely NOTHING to do with blood which is long gone. Look it up. Your apparent lack of knowledge detracts from other unrelated points.

Hey Brian, question about goat milk. I've heard that freezing goats milk changes the texture. Would you recommend freezing it prior to freeze drying or just putting it straight into the freeze dryer? Thanks

How do you calculate how much water to add to a package of homemade freeze-dried food?? Also, do you always use hot/boiling water? Or is that dependent on the dried food (i.e., fruit, etc..)
@live.life.simple.5 күн бұрын
Figure out portion size or better yet use our dividers from www.freezedryingsupplies.com weigh before and after freeze drying and the difference is the weight amount of water removed. Divide that by the amount of portions. You don't have to use boiling water on everything. Heat does not change things in most cases but gives a desired temperature on some foods.

Which is best raw or cooked meats? Thank you
@live.life.simple.5 күн бұрын
I personally prefer cooked meats freeze dried. The texture for most types turns out better when rehydrated. As a bonus, it's ready after rehydration and does not run the risk of contamination or sickness. Raw meats can be done for use in recipes or other but make sure you label package as "raw" and thoroughly clean the freeze dryer after.

apple juice isn't something I normally keep on hand. Can you make it 50/50 with water to make into cubes to freeze dry and possibly not have all of the sugar issues since the excess water will come out during the process. Would like to have some in the mylar to rehydrate later.

I don't freeze dry, but have become very interested in such a sealer. I Sous Vide, marinate & do loads of stuff in my 8 quart Ninja Foodi. Since this handles liquids, I see a real benefit there. I'll do 7+ quarts of 15 bean soup or gumbo, etc. and have been freezing leftovers in 1 quart plastic containers. Great video!

Hey man, great video 👍 Been thinking about one of these and the new model looks like a good deal. Just a quick question, would you have any idea how many ltrs of milk the small machine would hold and what that milk would then weigh in dried powder? Checked the website and it says something like 6-10lbs. Just trying to work out if its a worthwhile investment. Thanks, appreciate it 👍👍

For 1800 you may as well save for a regular topper. If this was like 600 it might be worth it just to,use for camping.
@live.life.simple.5 күн бұрын
reguler topper is $3-4k for a decent one and it has to remain on the truck or take up lots of space for storage. It's also a pain to remove and install it. It's a different product

The covering can be trimmed, but it requires using a ladder and some tape made for greenhouse plastic. If you have seen how the plastic, or metal is cut and seamed on other projects that form a dome end, you would know it is like how an orange is peeled using knife cuts to make wedges. If your not sure what I mean, cut up an orange and notice the skin of each wedge. When you make the same shape with the greenhouse plastic, you will need to overlap the edges to glue them together, tape them, or otherwise bond the edges. Using greenhouse tape is likely the easiest way to go, as long as the tape holds during the hottest of days. Most tapes soften and let go during the hot days of summer, so the kind of tape you use becomes important, as well as what you do to secure the plastic from flapping in the wind.

I didn't mention 3 years ago you can cut off the knee joint to get rid of the bulge and use a size smaller PVC to make slip in jointers. I made mine 4 to 5 inches long and cut them lengthwise, making a gap so I could squeeze them down to slip inside a little easier. I also used the same idea for the dome top ring all the pipe connect to in the Mongolian tent style. Doing it this way does remove the need to make the XX style sides, but you could include that part of the style for flat walls in a ring configuration. I like using the PVC pipe I have formed from 1.5 inch PVC since it is stiffer, but that does mean you will have to use heat to form the curve and a jig. If you want flat walls, make a jig so as much of the pipe as you want is not curved. As long as all the PVC pipe have the same form, the project will look professional. I do realize this is an old project with the video posted 5 years ago, but since KZfaq is still offering the video to watch, this additional information could help save the cost of other styles of greenhouse.

Limoges is a town in France (where I'm from and where I live) where they make porcelain since 18st century. This porcelain is translucent. Really good deal on this storage unit. I'm really stunned to see what you can find in a US storage unit. I can't believe there are so many guns and fire arms in your country, storage units included! That's really strange for me
