Today (3-3-24) I heard the latest figures for Copenhagen: 60% use their bicycle each day. 49% are using their bike to and from work/school each day.

Bikes are much quieter than cars... therefore improving quality of life for people in the vicinity of the roads.

Hello from the future! Here in 2023 in my city, we still can only dream of the safe biking solutions shown in this video. In fact, it was Portland that was implementing futuristic ideas. Biking in 2023 Portland is doubtless amazingly bike centric. Well done Portland!

Lets just outlaw all vehicles having 1 or less. You have to have 2 or more people in the vehicle. See how many it reduces.

This video's title card is timeless. The subtle zoom into the logo, the music, and then right into the B-roll. So simple, yet so stylish.

I wish my city would do this. Theyre always saying theres no room for bike lanes especially on "stroads" so I said why not take the outter lane each direction, paint a bike lane marking down the road and enforce the speed limit. We have to bike on the road on these roads anyways but speed limit isnt enforced, cyclists know we need to bike on the road but cars seem to either not know this or dont care. I was almost hit by 2 cars on the same street a few days ago.

Excellent video, although you most definitely executed about a 45 degree angle there 😂. The lines on the road were a little better (about 70 degrees?)... but regardless, your point was made and it was a good one.

I bought an Electra Townie 7D bicycle in March 2022 as an alternative means of transportation. I don't always use the electric assist function, but I am glad it is there when I want it. My alternate is now my main. I only drive my truck if my wife and I have to go somewhere together or if the weather is not favorable. I also lost 36 pounds in four months.

Sadly, this kind of bike infrastructure is going to always impossible to work into an American city. They are just too far spread out and the roads are mostly curved drives and cul-de-sacs. It would take an unbelievable amount of land appropriation or eminent domain. A typical US city for a given population is 10 to 20 times in size compared to a typical European city. Americans are very obsessed with class and status. It has a huge bearing on how cities are laid out, what car you drive and where your address is. Netherlands one of the most egalitarian countries. Something most conservative dread.

It's about biking infrastructure and culture, but fundamentally it's about money's role in politics, in politicians, in government decisions. This will not happen in the US not because Americans don't have smart people, it's because America is held by money, and rich folks who want to make more money: with this, the money holders, meaning the car company owners, won't allow public transportation and biking to be good.
