Darren, I’m trying to rid myself of the dead spot in transition that you mentioned is a common problem with good skiers. I’m puzzled by what the causes are of this interruption in flow. FYI - I enjoy, with the focus on balance and flow, the “zen” to this series of videos. //Marshall

I’m absolutely thrilled to see you’ve started another series, Darren! I’m a L2 ski instructor in Canada, and I can’t tell you how many times I’ve recommended your earlier series with Elate/SKNG to my clients, because the stuff in that series is just top notch-after all, it helped me get from absolute beginner to where I am now. I expect even greater things to come! (From you at least, and hopefully from myself too) ;-)

Hello. I have a question. When I am making parallel turns, should my body facing downhill along with the fall line and looking down the fall line regardless of the direction of travel of my skis (as it is making the S turn)? Or should I align my body and eyes with the skis and where the ski is going in that moment?

Summary; Right body position: Have the right body position: - soft and relaxed ankles - knees flexed and supple - hips flexed with slightly rounded back Stay over your feet. (Don’t lean too much forward!) Usually slightly more forward at start of turn.

@@DarrenTurnerSkiing I did! It was so awesome, I went from beginner having trouble on blue to easily going down red slopes and even blacks (not so easy) partly because of your videos in the two weeks I was in Austria! I noted all your tips down and when I was on the lift I read my notes, picked one tip and tried applying it. Did it all day for a few days. Especially the looking down the slope tip helped me, but also the don’t lean to much forward (just center) and be flexible. Things just clicked. Now feeling like I’m hitting a plateau tho. I’m not really comfortable on rough terrain with huge bumps (moguls?) in it, and I have no idea yet how to ever learn that! Seems impossible😅

As a ski and bike instructor, I fully concur, especially the not looking down at your material (skis or bike). I usually tell the pupils their skis or bikes are with them all the time, so no need te check...😅

The legend is back!!! I still remember back in 2014 how I devoured the SKNG Ski School videos in a Reno hotel room, the night before my FIRST day on snow! This year I started skiing black runs with confidence. Thank you Thank you Thank you! P.S: People may think I haven't made much progress in these 10 years. Well, actually, I only really skied in 2014 and 2024. LOL. Life happened in between.

Very poor instructions. A lot of mistakes in his statements. You don’t push on the skis, you support yourself. ..
@doesntmatter57044 ай бұрын
@natvlash You are wrong, it’s excellent instruction for those who are at a high enough skill level level to understand it. Someday you may get to this point, but don’t criticize when you’re not qualified to do so.

No, it’s very good advice actually. Just not for beginners. Eventually you’ll get better and then be able to understand it, but I doubt it.

Your handle of the English language and best using of words are great and directly in line for movements and concepts of skiing. Great videos and very inspiring for me as an instructor in Canada.

I'm starting to ski moguls! Boy are they fun. What you said about intimidationngkt me thinking. Mentally, I wouldn't consider myself intimidated as I am confident, yet your words got me thinking about rushing the turn. In the bumps, you tend to have a much more definite line choice and precise turn locations. I think this had led me to rush the turn because I dont want to miss it and lose my line? Fall? I guess I'm not sure. Regardless I think i might be rushing turns. It seems like a good idea to practice short turns on a groomed run with an emphasis on making them smooth rather than just fast! My intuition tells me that it is less of an ability issue and more of a mindset issue, and that a but of practice will change my approach to the situation

This video series with "phrases" approach are easy to implement during skiing. Very easy to remember "See the light", "Hands in front", "Don't be mr Viagra" etc. It really improved my skiing, for first time I was sometimes driving the skies instead being the passenger trying to catch up. Amazing feeling with less muscle pain! Still alot of exercising to do, but improving on each slope! Thanks for sharing this amazing series!
