Nice man! Those are the Loomis Blackouts right? I bought the same set for my Horizon FR-7 as well. Any trouble getting them in? How do you like them compared to the EMG 57/66?
@GiovanniRafii9 күн бұрын
Thanks man and they sure are! Swapping them is a breeze since they both use the same quick connect cables. I definitely prefer the Blackouts to the EMG set, but that’s because I prefer passives in general and the Blackouts are more dynamic in that sense. The 57/66 set has tighter lows, but I personally found them to have the same harshness and sterile feel that has always put me off to EMG pickups in general.

@@GiovanniRafii yeah man I have a Loomis Soloist 7 and love it. Did you have to use any Foam? Same screws? I believe the Duncans are shorter.
@GiovanniRafii9 күн бұрын
@@vinsaneinthemembrainnnnThose are great guitars. I used the foam pads that were already under the emgs. Same screws as well and didn’t notice a significant size difference when swapping them, so they shouldn’t give you any trouble

This pedal is a pain in the ass. It most definitely not a plug and go. Hold both switches plug it in nothing. Hold bypass down unplug plug in. Nothing went on and on for 40 min finally worked great. 6 months later changed out a pedal another 20 min trying to get it to work. This Bs happened at a I gig I smashed it in the alley and used another guitar players Revv G3 easier plug n play.
@GiovanniRafiiАй бұрын
Lol I agree. I also have the G3 and it’s much more reliable and sweeter sounding as a standalone pedal. Ended up needing an eq after the heavy menace to dial out some harsh high and mid frequencies. The noise gate and ability to switch between true/buffered bypass are the only conveniences of having this pedal, if you’re looking to save space. Sounds like the one you had was obviously defective, which isn’t surprising since the quality of internal components being used has plummeted over the last few years. Even though they’re still being advertised as “premium”.

I love mine,... So does my Hiwatt DR504OD. I use a Keeley Comp plus before and an Empress paragraph eq after. I get many useful sounds out of it. ENJOY.
@GiovanniRafii3 ай бұрын
Funny you mention that, because I also found I like it best with my Friedman Sir Compre before it and a paraeq after it to smooth out the high frequencies, as well as sculpt the mid and low frequencies a bit more. This is just the Heavy Menace straight in front of a Mesa Boogie F-100 on the clean channel.

Much appreciated. The BE-OD and the Dirty Shirley are probably my favorite among the countless “amp in a box” distortion pedals I’ve tried. I actually prefer this over the deluxe version, because of the ability to fine tune its resonance as opposed to the fixed position tight switches.

@@carloscesargallardo4762Try connecting the output of your Headrush into the return input of your fx loop. If that doesn’t work, there could be a loose solder joint on the jack. One of the input jacks of my valve king needed to be Re soldered, because of a bad connection as well.

Let those highs breathe Cut the gain just a little and add just a bit more weight Itll really brighten up the sound.
@GiovanniRafii4 ай бұрын
The pedal is running in front of a clean amp and dialed around what I have set as an optimal clean tone when bypassing the distortion, so to add more weight and turn up the highs from where they’re set, results in a harsh sound with a loose attack.
