such is the bureaucracy of post-war britain that the only thing george doesn't need a licence for is "two bobs' worth of dark" (a snog in the cinema).

Back in the good old days when television programmes were really great and so well worth watching without any of it is contestants nor presenters getting so full of criticism and complaints from viewers

For me although he is not my cup of tea Matthew Kelly was the best at presenting Stars in their eyes but Leslie Crowther and Cat Deeley did a great job hosting it as well because at least they all took the show seriously which was the right way and put the limelight on the contestants unlike Harry Hill who made the show about himself a made it more like a knockabout comedy show

Thanks to the uploader. Never dreamed I'd actually find this. Happy Days and wonderful memories of Saturday Night TV. Sad to read this guy had passed away. All I remember was him not winning and being gutted for weeks.

George was not responsible for "looking after" the greedy members of his family. It was nobody's business but George's who he left his money to.

What an absolutely brilliant performer that man was. In common with his father he had that dead pan gift of northern rhyme and effortless delivery - a similar style both. And the bulk of their material was self written - the lyrics in particular were just brilliant. George Formby Senior and Junior were a far cry from the gormless characters they portrayed - they were canny northerners with a unique gift. We English are rightly proud of them and they are missed to this day.
