So why did they cancel your clearance? You had one ahead of you landing but did they try and get somebody out ahead of you? At least you slowed down so ATC could sort it out. When he canceled I thought you would get some type of instructions like continue, or a vectors away.
@ProPilotPete3 күн бұрын
@@GMascelli yes, they were going to get someone out ahead of me. A trainee. Later decided it wouldn’t work so they re-cleared me to land. I tried to help by slowing down.

Hi Pete, I always enjoy your videos! Quick question, in the beginning of the video, ATC instructed you to descend to 3000 and turn heading 100. When they said "cleared Visual Approach Runway 23 Left" does this mean that you may now descend at your discretion and make turns at your discretion? Thanks.
@jmb16793 күн бұрын
Yes it does. I’m sure the vector was to get him a little closer to the airport before clearing him for the visual. If he was in IMC they would say “descend and maintain 3000 heading 100 until established cleared for the ils 33L”. If that was the case he would maintain 3000 and 100 until established on a published portion of the instrument approach before descending to a lower altitude

Hi Pete, you might have it on some video but I can’t find it. I run lop on my G58 just like you do. Do you have any tips for mixture control when descending? I usually just set it to 14.5gph which seems to be the highest setting on the lop Isa +20 chart (my location avg). Descending they don’t get hot anyways. If I stay at a given altitude for long I adjust it again But if not, I just keep descending and put full mix fwd on approach. Any pro tips ?
@ProPilotPete9 күн бұрын
@@ricardofontanet1445 if I have the power pulled back in the descent I don’t really worry about getting in a hurry to enrichen the mixture on the way down, I gradually add 1 gph for each 2000’, for example if I Leave 7000 and going down to 3000, as I go thru 5000 I’d add 1gph. It may only be 12gph or something else, because i have the throttle pulled back. Then below 3000 I can go full rich for landing. Just my thoughts. I do t think you can cause detonation with the power pulled back going down hill so to speak.

Thank you for the video! I recently began flying a CJ3+ with G3000, with plans to transition into PIC role soon - (I mostly fly CJ-1's and 2's). It's been fun to learn the G3000, it certainly brings a lot to the cockpit. I found your video educational, a good pilot-to-pilot refresher, plus it allowed me to see that other pilots can have similar experiences as I have had with the G3000 - (we work through the issues and learn!). Again, thank you. GBL - (G3000 pilot in training)

Pete - great videos in terms of editing and content. I got back into flying last year and completed the Cirrus transition course and should get my instrument rating shortly. Plan is to get my commercial cert as well. Do you offer or could you recommend a twin engine school? I don’t know if it’s your influence but a Baron G36 or a G38 seems the ticket. I came across CRAFT, they train in Diamonds. I fly out of KFRG.
@ProPilotPete22 күн бұрын
@@2003turbocarsandbids if you’re simply looking at obtaining the rating so you can fly professionally, a quick 2-3 weekend course might be what you’re looking for. Several of those, including one near me, that has a basic all included price for the training and checkride. Knock it out in two days. If you’re doing it as an owner/pilot I’d recommend a more thorough approach, perhaps even a simulator course, to get all the multi-engine aircraft knowledge and skills to safely fly a twin. The quick weekend course would be good if you’re going on to fly in a crew environment and you’ll learn the skills on the job so,to speak. Good luck with the instrument rating. It’s a hard one as there is so much information and knowledge needed and new skills to develop but a very rewarding one!
