It's best to have an dog or wild animal pepperspray with you, yeah it will hurt the dog, but rather that then you, your horse or the dog getting hurt even more. If your horse kicks once, it could kill the dog or let them suffer very deadly wounds. Look around for the owner, if the dog is small enough, try to grab them on the neg. Some dogs just want to play, but it really could end badly.

@@vrana8827 Definitely don't use pepper spray. The chance i blows back in your face or your horses face is very high and it would cause more spooking. Don't grab the dog at all, as you don't know whether or not it's aggressive, it may bite you. Instead, hop off your horse and don't engage with the dog. Ignore it (unless it's being outwardly aggressive) and call for it's owner.
